Overprotective Mommy

April 30, 2009

This weekend was going to be filled with carnivals, face painting, great Texas Country music, and art. That was until I went into "Overprotective Mommy Mode". I have been diligently listening to the news and radio about the swine flu. Schools are starting to close down, Obama urging Americans to stay away from large crowds, and me having a 2 year old. They just don't mix. So no "Festival Weekend" like Eric & I had planned. Instead we will be looking at houses (more on that in future posts), and playing games/watching Phinneas & Ferb inside our home all weekend.
Question of the day... Are any other parents out there as worried as me?!

Happy Birthday Audrey!!

April 27, 2009

Audrey & me the night before we moved back to Austin.
May 2006

Today is my good friend, Audrey's 27th Birthday!! (Youngin! Haha) Over the past 3 years or so Audrey and I have become very close and I feel that she is truly one of my great friends I will have forever! We talk almost daily online, and try getting together at least a few times per year. (We live about 3 hours away from each other) Her husband, Zach & Eric are good friends as well, and when the 4 of us get together it's nothing but laughs all day! Audrey is such a sweetheart and I wish her the best birthday yet!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUDREY!

On a side note, my sister and her friends are flying in from Cancun today. I hate that she had to come home early from her vacation, but it will be good to know she is home, safe, and healthy. She is going to see the doctor tomorrow to double check she did not catch the swine flu before Austyn gets home. Better to be safe than sorry. So thank you for your prayers, they definitely helped!

Last side note for today: Stellan is going home today!! That is such great news! God definitely listened to the thousands of prayers daily for that little baby boy!

Weekend Review

Update: My sister and her friends are in Mexico for vacation. They are being told to get home asap because of the swine flu outbreak. Please help me in praying for their safe arrival back to the states, and that none of them catch the flu! Thanks!!

This weekend was fun and yet still trying to get healthy again. Friday night I met friends at Mesa Rosa for a drink after Bella went to bed. It was nice to catch up with them and relax a bit.

Saturday we ran errands with Bella all day and got to play in the driveway with her new sidewalk chalk. She loved it! The weather was yucky all weekend, so we mainly stayed indoors. Saturday night we went to Carlos N Charlie's with Sandra & Mark and ended up at Third Base playing darts with some of their friends. It was a lot of fun and great to get out for a bit. I was coughing the whole time but managed to still have fun and have a beer as well! Ofcourse I was DD since heavy drinking was out of the question!

Sunday we cleaned and grocery shopped, and relaxed the whole day.

I am still fighting whatever it is I have, and hoping it gets better asap. I hate coughing and feeling crappy all the time! Today I woke up and my left eye is bright red and yucky. It's not pink eye, because I've had that before and it's painful. This doesn't really hurt, just hard to see. The coughing has since stopped, which is a plus. Just wanting to feel totally better already!

Hmph... Hate Being Sick!

April 24, 2009

Yesterday was terrible, I went home sick from work because I had no voice, and was running a fever. I went home, ate some Taco C, and fell asleep on the couch for a few hours. When I woke up, my throat was worse and the coughing was terrible. Grandma kept Bella again to help us out, and brought us KFC for dinner so I didn't have to cook. (Have I ever told you how great my mother in law is?! She's absolutely the best!!) When Eric got home, he brought me tons of medicine to help, and I made it through Grey's Anatomy before falling back asleep. Did anyone watch Grey's last night? It had me balling about the little girl that was dying. Tore my heart out!!

Today I am feeling better, still have no voice, and coughing ever so often, but feeling better. Let's hope this weekend I'll be fine!! Happy TGIF!!

And So It Spreads...

April 22, 2009

So now, all 3 of us are coughing. Eric's is due to the high allergy levels this week, mine is a cough I just can't seem to get rid of, and Bella's is her sinus infection. We're a bunch of sickies! Last night Bella just could not fall asleep. Everytime her little eyes would close, a cough would come, and she was wide awake. She finally fell asleep around 9 p.m. and woke back up around 1 a.m. with the cough. Eric ended up letting her sleep with us for the rest of the night. Seems she sleeps much more soundly when she is wedged between Mommy & Daddy!

Today is Eric's friend, Travis's birthday. Happy Birthday Travis! We are going to the Salt Lick in Driftwood tonight to celebrate. Incase your asking what the Salt Lick is, it's a world famous BBQ joint, that's located about 15 minutes south of dowtown Austin, (aka about an hour south of our cozy house nestled in North Austin!!) They really do have great bbq, so it should be lots of fun!

Lastly, Happy Earth Day! Although I am not big on recycling at home, I do recycle all paper, plastic, and aluminum at work, plus we're really big about bringing our Eva Longoria HEB bags when we go grocery shopping to help out as well. Just our little part in helping this world. So Happy Earth Day, give Mother Nature a boost today and recycle!

Can the Coughing Stop Please?!

April 21, 2009

Bella started on her antibiotics last night, and eventhough she hated them and tried to spit it out, we finally got it down! About 5 minutes later, she started a coughing fit, and I couldn't help but feel terrible for her. We've stopped giving her milk for now, and are using Baby Vicks religiously at night, but nothing yet is helping. Hopefully, the meds will kick in today. This morning coughing woke her up, and she just sat on my lap in her bed and cried, broke my heart! Please help me and pray she starts feeling better asap and the coughing fits stop. I hate to see my baby girl in pain!

Update: Nothing on Bella as I am still at work, but please help me in praying for Baby Stellan as he underwent surgery in Boston this morning. We are all keeping him and his family in our prayers! I think of how much I worry when Bella coughs, I could not imagine watching my little baby going through a heart surgery! Lord please be with them today and everyday.

Happy Birthday Sis!

April 20, 2009

Today is my sister, Tanya's 35th birthday!! I am so excited and happy for her. Tanya, you know that you're not only my big sis, but also my best friend. I love you and hope that this year is your best one yet!

This weekend was such a blast. On Friday night we headed home to GP. My Dad & Mary were waiting for us when we got there, and Bella was so excited! She stayed up until 11 p.m. which is way past her bed time, but since she doesn't get to spend much time with them, we let her stay up.

Saturday we went to see Carol & Jack, and mainly Jack's Dad who was not doing too well. He will be missed, and it's good to know he is with God, his family, and friends in Heaven now.

Afterwards, we took Tanya to Cuba Libre for lunch. They have the best queso ever!! And if you're a Texas girl like me, queso is very important! That night we met up with Tanya and her friends to celebrate her birthday at the Glass Cactus in Grapevine. That place was so much fun, Eric just loved it! We ended the night by meeting up with some old friends at a nearby bar and catching up with them as well, which was so much fun!

Sunday we had Easter dinner at Dad's and then headed home. Overall, a great weekend!

This morning I took Bella to the doctors, because she has had a cough forever it seems, and this was the 3rd appointment for her to get checked out. She has a sinus infection, and will start on antibiotics tonight. Hopefully it will make her all better asap! Have a good Monday, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS! Love you!

Rain Rain Go Away...

April 17, 2009

This morning the weather is terrible, and it's looking like it will rain all day. No good for us who are driving 3 hours tonight after work. I hate driving on 35 especially in the rain. There is always construction somewhere and it gets down to one lane, which itself is dangerous! We'll just go slow and get there safely.

Tomorrow I pray it will be beautiful and sunny in the DFW area! I am so excited to see my family, and I just want to have fun and no worries all weekend. Bella is already saying "I'm going to Papa's!" all morning! We had to keep reminding her that she has to go to school first and then we'll go to Papa's. She also keeps asking if she gets to see "Ausyn" (her cousin & my Godson, Austyn), I can't tell you how excited she gets when she gets to see him. He is 9 years old, smarter than any kid his age, and just loves Bella! They can play together for hours, and when they get together they usually do!

So, I hope everyone has a safe, fun, & dry weekend!

Going Home

April 16, 2009

Tomorrow after work we are heading back to the Metroplex to visit my family. Next Monday is my sister's birthday so we are going home to celebrate! We'll be taking her to Cuba Libre Saturday for lunch and maybe do a little shopping afterwards! I haven't been home since January, so it's much overdue. We used to get home once a month, but lately with my Dad traveling a lot and our family having plans every weekend, it's starting to get harder to make it there all the time. Which means tonight I am finishing the packing of 3 suitcases, and loading everything into our car before work tomorrow.

I am so excited for Bella to see her Papa, Aunt Tanya, Cousin Austyn, & Mary all weekend. She talks to them on the phone often, but getting to see and play with them will be such a treat for her!

My Poor Hubby!

April 15, 2009

While we were on vacation Austin got hit with the worst hail storm in it's history. Lucky us my car was in Galveston, and the car Eric had did not get a dent. Great for our house, bad for the people of Austin, worse for Eric and his job! He is a branch manager at a rental car company in South Austin. Let's just say that since he got back, he hasn't stopped working. He's working non-stop all day, and has been calling me frustrated because they don't have enough cars in the entire city to cover the amount of people needing rentals while their cars get fixed.

Eric is not someone who stresses, that's usually my job since becoming a Mom. Lately, he has come home stressed out almost nightly. I hate seeing him like this, and although I know it's really a good thing for his company and for him to be so busy, I just see the toll it's taking on him. Please help me pray that his job gets just a little less stressful and he returns to his normal happy go lucky self! Thanks!

Easter Weekend Review

April 14, 2009

This weekend was a lot of fun, but also very exhausting! Friday night we stayed home, and I made pasta shells with shrimp in honor of Good Friday and our last Friday with no meat. Bella went to sleep early and Eric & I watched "We Own the Night". It was okay, a little graphic for me, but not too bad. Someone needs to tell Joaquin to keep his day job, and not try the whole rap thing! He's a darn good actor!
Saturday was a ton of fun! We started by going grocery shopping around 7 a.m. (we always go that early to beat the crowds, but usually on Sundays) Afterwards we grabbed some breakfast and headed to the outlet malls. Banana Republic was having 40% off everything in the store, so I ended up getting 2 cute spring shirts. Love them! Bella was getting fussy, so we left and went home to get her a nap. We both ended up taking naps as well, which is always nice! When she woke up we grabbed lunch and headed to the Dell Diamond. The Budweiser Clydesdales were in town, so we went and Bella got to see the biggest, most beautiful horses ever! She LOVED it! We also walked around and found the dog that travels with them. She hated to leave, but it was starting to rain so we headed home and grabbed a little Rudy's to eat dinner.
Easter Sunday we woke up around 6 a.m. to get ready, let Bella find the Easter Eggs the Easter Bunny left her, and head to church. Right as we were getting ready to head to church it started pouring! Bella's been sick with a cold for weeks now, and I wasn't going to take the chance of getting her all wet and more sick, so we ended up staying home and missing Mass. I was so disappointed, but decided reading bible verses would help me. It did! Around 10 a.m. we headed to Eric's parents' house for Easter Lunch. They also go Rudy's! (Great minds think alike!) Bella got to go Easter egg hunting there as well. The weather moved out and was bright and sunny that afternoon! Perfect egg hunting weather! We also watched The Masters and cheer Tiger and Lefty on to a 4th & 5th place victory! ;) All in all, a great Easter weekend!

This weekend we are heading to my hometown, Grand Prairie, TX to visit my family. It's my sister's birthday, so we are going to celebrate!

Playing on Easter

April 10, 2009

First, happy Good Friday. I am one of the only people actually working at my job today, only because I forgot to ask off for it in time. But that's okay because on Sunday we get to celebrate Easter with Bella! Last night I was sitting with her and tried to tell her about the meaning of Good Friday & Easter. She listened like a 2 year old would, and then proceeds to say "Easter Bunny!!" It made me laugh how excited she is, so maybe when she is 3 we can talk again about how wonderful God is and what sacrifices he made this weekend. Her daycare had their Easter party yesterday and Bella got her own little Easter basket and got to Easter egg hunt. She brought home a ton of eggs (aka candy) and wanted to play with them all night. I let her have 1 Hershey Kiss and when she was done it was all over her! Sooo cute!

Tomorrow we have many errands to run that are usually left until Sunday. I am in desperate need of work sandals and springy tops, so we'll be heading to the outlets. Also at the Dell Diamond the Budweiser Clydesdales are showing so we want to take Bella to see them.

Sunday we are going to mass at 7:30 a.m. Bella will be up way before then anyway, so hopefully being so early will avoid the massive crowds. We're going to Eric's parents for Easter lunch, and then I will be making a little mini-Easter dinner for the 3 of us.

From The Muñoz Family to yours... Happy Easter!

Nice Night Out With My Hubby

April 9, 2009

Yesterday, Eric stayed home with Bella because she just wasn't feeling up to par. All day I called and checked in on them, and he kept saying she was good and was asking for Grandma. So finally Eric called his mom to let her talk to Bella and they decided to let Bella stay with her last night. Bella was estatic! Eric's mom came and picked her up around 4:30 or so. When I got home Eric was ready to just get out of the house for a while, so we decided to go to Kona Grill in the Domain for dinner. They have great happy hour specials on food and drinks. They weather was georgeous, so we sat on the patio and had sushi and a drink together. It was nice to just sit with my hubby and catch up on the day. Afterwards, we went and walked around the outside mall area. Of course we stopped at the Coach store for me, and the Apple store for him to "window shop". When we were done we went home and watched American Idol results.

Overall, it was a nice relaxing Wednesday evening. We never really go anywhere on the week nights let alone sit down and have dinner, so it made it extra special!

Wonderful Night with Friends

April 7, 2009

Last night after Eric got home from work, we headed over to M&M's house for fajitas. Bella kept saying "Noooo!" when we'd ask if she was ready to go over. She stayed there a few weeks ago, and thinks if we go that Mommy & Daddy will leave her there again. We explained we're all going over to eat and will come home afterwards. When we pulled up, Bella had a minor breakdown. (If a 2 year old can actually have a minor breakdown this is what it would look like!) She started sobbing and asking to go home please. I just kept reminding her we were just visiting and would go home in a little bit. Once we got in and she realized we weren't leaving her she was fine! She played with Zoey & Jax (their dogs) out back and played ball with Daddy while Michael bbq'd. She was wonderful and ate pretty well. It was great night to catch up with them and get to spend some time together. I've said this in previous posts, but Melissa is much more than my best friend, she is my sister and I love her dearly! Thank you both for such a wonderful dinner. Next week is our house!

Relaxing Weekend

April 6, 2009

This weekend was so nice. Bella had her 1st Easter Egg Hunt and Eric's whole family came to watch. She did really good and got 5 Easter Eggs! Doesn't seem like much but there were tons of kiddos going for the eggs. When the lady said go, Bella ran out and forgot to grab any eggs! So I ran over to help her. She did great and afterwards she rode on a pony and went on a choo-choo train ride! (Her words exactly!) Sat night Eric and I went to watch "Knowing". Whew that was a wierd and yet still terrible movie. I love Nic Cage, but that movie came wayyy out of left field! Then we went to Chuy's for some dinner and I fell asleep around 7:30 p.m.! That's how I roll! Haha, I was so exhausted, the lack of sleep just finally caught up on me!
Sunday was just a normal clean the house & play with Bella type of day. I was able to upload the pictures from the cruise, and post them. Tonight we are going over to Mel's for fajitas! Bella loves them so it will be lots of fun! Have a great Monday!
