Like Mother, Like Daughter

January 30, 2009

So I've come to realize Bella is a lot like me! When she sees something she wants, she knows what buttons to push and how to smile to get it! That's such a great trait to have, trust me! But more importantly, she is a very clean toddler. She asks me or Daddy to wash her hands every night before and after dinner and loves brushing her teeth. If you know me at all, you know how OCD I am about cleanliness. I wash my hand at least 20 times a day, etc. The first time she asked me to wash her hands was last week when I was getting her dinner ready. She said "Wash Hands" and at first I didn't understand, but then she walked me over to the kitchen sink and I got the idea. It's a proud moment when my daughter can ask to get clean!

Last night, Eric got off work early and we got home around the same time. I decided to bbq steaks even though it was in the low 30's outside. Well, Bella wanted to play on our deck while I bbq'd so we bundled her up and let her swing and play the whole time. I did get video of Eric pushing her on the swing and will post this weekend. I think the cold fresh air might have gotten to her because after dinner, she wanted to get in her jammies and was asleep by 7 p.m. It truly was a wonderful and fun night!

Montreal

January 29, 2009

I was blog surfing yesterday and came across a blog from a runner in Montreal. She was talking about her favorite places and one name caught my eye. Chalet Barbeque. It's a restaurant in Westmount, Quebec. If you are wondering how a girl from Austin, TX would know of a restaurant in Canada, let me fill you in. My mom was born and raised in Montreal. I've been twice in my life and loved both times! Montreal is absolutely beautiful, only downfall being that no matter what month I go, it's always cold! Chalet was my mom's favorite restaurant, and my mom & dad used to visit frequently when they lived there or in Vermont. Eric & I went with my family about a two and a half years ago for my cousin, Adam's wedding. We got to visit Chalet and try their bbq. Now, coming from a Texas Girl, bbq is supposed to be cooked on a grill over burning hot coals... not in Montreal! It was more of a rotisserie chicken, but was definitely yummy! Me & my family got it to go and ate it in our hotel room, where we reminisced about Mom and what a great person, mom, and wife she was! It'll be a weekend I'll never forget. Thanks in part to Chalet Barbeque!
The picture below is me, my sister, and my Dad infront of the restaurant in Sept. 2006. It was windy and I was pregnant, so please take all that into consideration! Also, Eric was taking the picture, so that's why you don't see him!

Finally feeling better!

January 28, 2009

Last night was no bueno for me. I picked Bella up at Grandma's after work, and she was so excited to see me. Which by the way, automatically made me feel better! So we got home, I cooked dinner, and we ate together while waiting for Daddy to get home. Usually we wait for him to eat, but with me being sick, and Bella seemed hungry, we ate a little early. When Eric got home and ate and got Bella ready for bed. I laid on the couch until I finally fell asleep!
This morning I feel great! No stomach pains or anything! Even the ice stayed away so that I could get to work on time and with no problems! Thank the Lord for getting me and my family to work and school safely!!

I'm a little sick

January 27, 2009

I didn't want to mention it yesterday since it was Bella's birthday and I wanted the day to be all about her, but I think I got a little bit of food poisoning yesterday. I felt fine in the morning but by noon, my stomach was not happy. I was supposed to leave work @ 2, but left about half an hour early because I felt so bad! I did go with Bella & Eric to Bella's 2 year check up. She weighs 27 lbs. 9 oz. and is 32" long. Her weight puts her in the 50th percentile, but she is a little short and in the 10th percentile for height. Also, she had to get one shot, but did well!
So after we finished at the doctors, I was really feeling terrible, and Eric's mom came to get Bella for the night to help me out. I hated not spending her birthday night with her, but could barely get off the couch let alone play with her.
Today I am feeling a little better. My stomach still feels funny and my body is sore, but I am back at work hoping to make it through today and get my baby girl tonight for some Mommy & Bella time!!

Oh almost forgot... Bella had her first sushi roll on Sunday. Granted it was a veggie sushi roll and she tore it to shreds before she ate it, but she loved it! And no, I didn't get sick from sushi. It was fish I cooked and apparently not long enough!

Happy Birthday Bella! We love you!

January 26, 2009

Today is my daughter's 2nd birthday! Seems like yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital and now she is talking, and has the best personality! In honor of her birthday, I am posting some of my very favorite pictures of her from the past 2 years. Just in case you were wondering, her birthday party was so cute and fun! She got lots of cute and fun presents and was so happy the whole time! My family came in from Dallas, and she was so happy to see them as well! It was a great weekend!

Bella's Birthday Weekend

January 22, 2009

Tomorrow I am only working half a day so I will probably not be able to post. This weekend is a total Bella weekend! Friday afternoon, Eric & I are setting her new kitchen up, hiding it somewhere in the garage, and putting a huge bow on it! Also, we are cleaning house and getting all the food for her party. My whole family comes in tomorrow night! They haven't been to Austin in quite a while, so I am excited!!
Saturday is the big day!!! At 10 a.m. I am going to Party City to get her balloons. Eric's parents & my family are coming over at 11 a.m. to help decorate and get the food ready. Eric is picking up Bella's Elmo cake at 12 p.m. The official party is at 1 p.m.! Trust me, I will take lots of pictures!! Afterwards Eric, me & Bella are going with my Dad & Mary, and Eric's parents to the Oasis for dinner. It's going to be a long but enjoyable day!!
So, have a great weekend, and Happy Birthday Bella!!! WE LOVE YOU!

These are pictures from Bella's 1st birthday party!

Wednesday's Walk with my Mom

January 20, 2009

Walking down memory lane...

The end of June 2002, I was coming home from college to visit my mom. My Dad was out of town for work, and I could tell she was lonely. I called her on my way home to tell her to be dressed and ready to go out when I got there. She asked why and I told her it was a surprise. When I got there, I picked her up and took her to see "Ya-Ya Sisterhood" at the movie theater. I knew she hadn't gone out to a movie in ages, and she was so excited. Afterwards we just sat and talked at the house for hours. I was always very close with my mom, but that night she was my very best friend.
A month later she went in for surgery and never made it home. The doctors made a mistake during the surgery. My mom was in ICU for 3 weeks before passing away on Aug. 5, 2002. To say I miss her is a huge understatement. She was not only my mom, but my best friend. I will never forget the night I got to spend with my best friend.

My Mom & Dad in Puerto Rico 2001.

Can I Go Back To Bed Now?!

This morning has been one of the worst mornings I've had in a long time. To start off with, and most painful, I was flat ironing my hair like every morning, and the iron dropped right onto my thumb. Burned the whole inside of my left thumb. Did I mention I am a leftie? It bubbled up and now I can't write or hold onto anything with that hand!! After that fiasco, I got ready for work, and got Bella ready. She wouldn't take her allergy medicine and spit it all out onto her chair. Cleaned that up, got her into the car, and proceeded to her daycare. She screamed like crazy once we got there and threw herself onto the floor of her class. Great; gee I look like an awesome Mom!! Lastly and how great is this... I get to work, open up my bagel, low and behold it's full of mold!! Are you kidding me?! So now I am sitting at my desk at work, starving, worrying about Bella, and in a lot of pain... Are you sure it's Tuesday?!
Oh yeah... To top it all off, Eric and I have stopped drinking any type of Cokes, Dr. Pepper, etc. until our cruise which is 9 weeks away! So with everything going on, I can't caffeinate myself! God, give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

Weekend Post

January 18, 2009

I usually don't post on the weekend but since I am home tomorrow, I probably will not post, so I thought I would tonight. Let's just say it's been a rough weekend. I'll start with Friday night. We had decided to try a Mexican Restaurant in Round Rock we always drive by. I picked Bella up at school got her home, fed her, and changed her outfit all before Eric got home. By the time he walked through the door, Bella was exhausted and just not in the mood to sit at a packed restaurant for an hour or two. So we decided to get drive through instead and eat it once Bella was asleep. She fell asleep around 7:30. By 11 p.m. she was up and crying in her crib. She never wakes up anymore, so we thought it was a bad dream. We were wrong! She stayed up until 4 a.m. Saturday morning crying with us in our bed! To say we were tired Saturday was an understatement! But we ran our errands, got her decorations for next weekend, etc. Got an hour nap in as well. Same exact thing happened last night, except that she fell asleep in our bed with us.
I love that Bella is a Momma's Girl, except for when she sleeps in our bed! She has to hold onto me the entire time she is sleeping so that I can't move the whole night. I got 1 hour of sleep last night total!! Today I am a zombie! I haven't felt like this since she was a week or two old. Brings back memories! Tonight she is at Grandma & Grandpa's having a sleep over. They were so sweet to watch her so Eric & I could get a full night's rest! Thank God for them! I do have tomorrow off, so in the morning I am sleeping in (which for me is a whopping 8 a.m.) and then running my last few errands before picking Bella up and spending the day with her. Sleep awaits!!

On a side note, I am praying for Baby Harper. I have never met her or her mom, but read the story and it touched my heart. She was born a few days ago and is in NICU in Arkansas. Please click the button on the right and read about her. Please help me in praying for this beautiful new baby!!

I can't make up my mind!

January 16, 2009

I am always like this! I change everything a lot, especially my blog backgrounds! So please bear with me. I was going to do a Valentine's background, but can't find any I love. I do like the background I have now, and might keep it for a while, but we shall see!

This weekend I have a 3 day weekend! MLK Day is Monday, and since my job is via the government I will be off relaxing and meeting Eric for lunch @ Maudie's near his work. Gotta love it!

Last night we went to Bella's open house. One thing I noticed about her new teacher is that she calls Bella, "Isabelle". A) Bella's birth name is Isabella, not Isabelle. B) No one calls her by her birth name. We haven't since she was born, Eric and I love that name but for a baby we thought Bella would be better. So I told her teacher that everyone calls her Bella. When we were leaving, she said "Bye Isabelle, see you tomorrow!" Ugh! LOL, I really don't mind her calling her by that, but I worry that Bella might get confused by all the different names. So we will see how it goes. Other than that, Ms. Stephanie says she is doing well in her class. Getting along with the other kids, and although still pretty shy, is starting to talk and open up more. We also met with a local police officer there about child safety seats and at what age and weight they should get new car seats. Very eye opening! All in all it went well! She seems to be having a lot of fun in her new class, so Eric & I are very happy!

Bella is a Peacock!

January 15, 2009

Today Bella moved up in her daycare to the Peacock Class! She is in the class with 2 year olds, and her teacher, Ms. Stephanie, says she is doing well. The last week they have been putting her into her new class for a few hours a day to get used to it. She is a little shy but she will open up when she gets more used to the kids in her class. Tonight is open house at her school and Eric & I are both leaving work early to go. I am excited to really get to talk to her new teacher and see her new classroom! I can't believe she is moving up already but I could tell she was ahead of the kids in her last class, because most of them did not talk much. We are both so very proud of her!
Saturday we are going to Party City to get all the decorations for her party next weekend. They have a ton of Abby Cadaby themed decorations, so it will be very cute! Now I just have to order the balloons and buy the food and we're all done! I can't wait to see how she does this year at her party!! Will post the pictures asap!

Wednesday Walk

January 13, 2009

This week I will always remember:

That Bella hates getting her pictures professionally done. She cried so much until they put the black background on that was made of cloth and she said "Blankie!" and ran right over to it!

I'll never forget how stressful planning a birthday party is! Bella's is a week from Saturday, and my stress levels are high right now.

A memory from the past:

I think this one I am going to do just for Bella. Hopefully one day she can read this blog and appreciate it!

The day you were born...

It was a cold day in January. I had gone to Dr. Solomon the day before to get checked out because of the amount of pain I was in. He told me I was 2 cm dilated and 50%. He called down to the nurses station and booked me for 7 a.m. Friday morning. The doctor said to eat a big breakfast before coming in.

Friday morning, January 26, 2007... Eric and I wake up around 4:30 a.m. We decided to go to IHOP across the street from Seton NW Hospital. I ate so much food and am glad I did. I was in labor with you for 11 hours. Everyone came, your Grandma & Grandpa, Papa & Mary, Aunt Tanya & Austyn, Auntie Melissa, Aunt Sandra & Uncle Mark, etc.
To say I had a hard pregnancy is an understatement, but the delivery was worse. I had to keep an oxygen mask on the whole time to keep your heartbeat up. I pushed for over an hour and a half, and when you were born, I didn't get to meet you for half an hour. The doctor and nurses thought you had broken your collar bone, so they cleaned you and rushed you to the x-ray. Thank God you were fine, and when they placed you in my arm, I knew what love was. The kind of love where within that first minute of having you, I would have given my life to save yours. The kind of love that make me smile everytime someone says your name. You are the reason I am here and my reason for everything Daddy & I do! We love you Isabella Joanie Munoz!

I found the best store!

Okay I usually don't go into places I shop at or anything like that on here, but I had heard about a store near my house called Charming Charlie's. I first went with my friend Audrey to it, and we both loved it! We went to the one in Southlake town square. They have tons of jewelry, watches, handbags, clothing, shoes, sun glasses, etc. for really great prices! Also you can become a member for free and get 10% off your 1st purchase and 5% off every purchase after! So, I took my friend Sonia there in Cedar Park this past weekend because she is going to Vegas this weekend (lucky girl) and wanted some cute jewelry to take. She also loved the place! She got a cute dress and some earrings. I found a cute handbag in a mustard yellow color for my cruise and love it! The website is http://www.charmingcharlie.com/ incase you want to see if there is one near you! I love finding cute new places to shop at!!

Not a Morning Person

I've come to realize that Bella is NOT a morning person. No matter if we wake her up to get ready or if she wakes up on her own, she is not in a good mood in the mornings! This morning, Bella woke up at 5:30 a.m. for some reason, and decided she wanted out of her crib. So we brought her to our bed, but she wasn't having that at all either. Eric got up with her (God bless him for that!) and started getting her ready for daycare. When I woke up I did her hair, brushed her teeth, and got her coat on. She would not take her paci out for anything! When we got to her school, she started crying and would not let me go. Finally the teacher was able to divert her attention and I sneaked out. I hate doing that though because I like saying goodbye and giving her a kiss, but not this morning... Hopefully she'll be in a better mood when I pick her up after work!

Bella's 2 Year Pictures!

January 12, 2009

All weekend Bella has had a cough. It's not too bad, and I think it's due to Cedar Fever that everyone in Austin gets in January. But needless to say, I hate when she is sick! Saturday was such a busy day for us! We woke up and went to Academy to get a treadmill. Eric and I are trying really hard to work out and get into shape before our cruise in 2 months. Afterwards, we went home because Bella was getting sleepy. She only took about an hour nap, so we call the Picture People to see if we could get an earlier appt, and they were great and had us come in. Bella was so happy and jumping around, right until we took her into the room to get her pictures taken! She got so scared and started crying and would not get on the background. We tried everything. Finally, the photographer put a black background on it that was cloth, and Bella thought it looked like a blankie and was okay. We got some really cute pictures!! I will post below, excuse the trademark on the pictures!
Yesterday, Eric had to work, so Bella, my friend Sonia, and I went to Charming Charlie's for some shopping therapy and then had sushi for lunch! Bella was awesome! She never got upset, she walked around the store which is full of jewelry, purses, shoes, clothes, etc and never tried to touch anything! Even at sushi she ate her lunch and was good! That's my girl!! :)

My Husband Rocks

January 8, 2009

If you want to say a bit about how great your hubby is please click on the link above and get your own tab! This is such a great idea! Let's show the world that marriage is everlasting!

My husband is Eric Munoz. We have been together for over 9 years now and married for 4 1/2! Wow time flies by!
Anyway, Eric is an awesome husband and father. He will drop anything to help Bella or me when we need it. He is patient, kind, loving, and generous. He loves sports and his favorite team is of course the Texas Longhorns. (Mine as well! Hook 'Em!)
To say Eric is good at sports is an understatement. He is awesome at almost any and every sport he tries. Football, baseball, soccer, golf, pool, darts, etc. He is extremely competitive as well, which is actually a great thing because he refuses to let himself or his family fail at anything.
He is such a hard worker. He's been with his company since he graduated college, eventhough he used to work 60-80 hour work weeks when he first started. He's determined and makes sure he always finishes what he starts.

He loves me & Bella with his whole heart, and we both feel the same about him!

To sum up, Eric is the love of my life and my soulmate! I couldn't imagine my life without him.
Love you Baby!

Busy Weekend Ahead!

This weekend is jam packed with to-do's. Friday night we are going to my favorite Mexican Restaurant Maudie's for dinner. If you live in Austin, you know Maudie's, if you don't, go there next time you visit! They have the best enchiladas and margaritas anywhere!!
So Saturday is where we get busy. Saturday morning we are going to Academy to buy a treadmill. Nothing fancy, just one we can put in the garage and run on in the mornings or at night to get some exercise in. I have to wear a bathing suit at the end of March and am worried at this point about what it will look like on!! Afterwards we have to get home and make sure Bella gets a good long nap in before 2:30. That's when we get her all dressed up and go to the Picture People to get her pictures taken. (hence the long nap beforehand!) Afterwards we have Mass at 5 p.m. which we're hoping we'll be all done by then and able to go. Lastly, trying to figure out what to eat for dinner.
Sunday is a lot easier. Eric is working that afternoon, so Bella and I are going shopping. Whew what a weekend ahead!

Wednesday's Walk

January 7, 2009

So I am probably not going to do this right, but on Wednesday's I am going to walk down memory lane. First I am starting with the past week and the main things I will remember always...
1) Bella tries so hard to say Bananas, but every morning lately when she asks for one she says Naners please! It's the funniest/cutest thing ever!
2) Eric & I realizing that we can actually have time away from Bella and still have fun and enjoy ourselves! (I did call his parents about 20 times to check in, but I am forgetting about that right now!)
3) I will never forget watching the Fiesta Bowl with Eric and the very last play UT had. Eric was in his recliner the whole game, until the last play where he slowly got up and got closer to the TV. When we scored the winning touchdown he leaped up and jumped all over the living room yelling and cheering! He only gets that happy during UT games!

Here some memories about me & my family I'll never forget...

1) We thought Bella was very slow on getting on her feet and walking. She didn't even start crawling until 11 months old! But at 14 months we had a physical therapist come over to the house because she wasn't pulling herself up and/or walking at all. She came over and literally the minute she started working with Bella, Bella got up and took 3 steps! The PT looked at us like, "Why am I here?!"

2) To show you how romantic my husband is not, on our first dance at our wedding reception, Eric whispers in my ear, "Where are the bathrooms at?" Ahh now that's love people! :)

So please click on the button on the right hand side to get the rules off the post I copied this from. Have a great Wednesday!

What a Game!!

January 6, 2009

Wow last night kept Eric and I on our toes the whole game!! What a great game it was though! Thank God for Colt McCoy & Quan Crosby! After the 1st half, Eric & I sat there wondering what was going on with the Horns, no touchdown the whole 1st half?! I've been saying the whole year that the Horns are a 2nd half team and they showed that last night. Eric & I stayed home with Bella last night and she was asleep before the game even started! So we had our UT Gear on and sat on the edge of our seats for 3 1/2 hours. It was great! Hook ' Em!!
Eric is going at lunch to Academy to buy our t-shirts to commerate the win. I will be sporting it proudly for years to come! Now the question is, do I root for the Sooners (which I HATE) or root for Florida on Thursday night?!
