Back to the Grindstone!

March 31, 2009

Today is my 1st day back to work from my fabulous vacation! The weather was perfect, we got tanned, but not burned, and the food was delicious!! I recommend a cruise to anyone thinking about taking a trip.
First we went to Cozumel. It is just beautiful! We did a beach excursion where we sit at the beach all day, drink lots of yummy margaritas, and just relax. It was so much fun and yet relaxing.
Honduras was the same. Absolutely georgeous! Turqoise waters as far as the eye can see. We went with his family on another beach excursion, yet this one was different. Not as crowded and more Caribbean feeling. It was our favorite stop.
Costa Maya was completely different. We didn't do any excursions, and it looked like an area built for tourism only. There were a ton of shops and a few restaurants, we went to Bandito's and it was good. Had to get Mexican food in Mexico! The military was out in full force but were nice and not overbearing at all.
The cruise itself was just awesome. Great food, lots of nice people, exceptional service, I could go on and on. Overall we had a great week. Will post pictures asap. Now it's back to work!

Blue Waters and Margaritas, Here I Come!

March 20, 2009

This will be my last post for the next week or so, because at 4 p.m. today I officially start my vacation!!! If you could see how big my smile is right now...

Tomorrow is going to be hectic with getting everyone and everything ready to go. We are taking Bella to Gattiland to eat pizza and ride the baby rides. She loves that place! Going to dinner with Eric's parents so they can spend some time with her as well, and of course watching our precious Longhorns get their butts whooped by Duke tomorrow night. Now you know how much I love our Longhorns but against #2 seated Duke?! Probably have no chance, but don't tell Eric that! But mainly, just spending as much time with Bella as possible. The last few days I have been hugging her a little longer and giving her a few more kisses than usual, which usually is around 100 per day. She trys to pry herself away, but no; Mommy is not letting that happen!

So as I sign off for the last time for a few days, please help me and pray that I don't stress the whole cruise over Bella, that Bella has fun and no problems at Melissa's, and that she doesn't catch the pink eye going around her classroom!! Yuck!!

LOVING this Weather

March 19, 2009

Last week it was in the 30's and raining everyday for about 6 days. It made me so tired and blah feeling that I thought it would never end. I was completely wrong! This week has been georgeous and in the high 80's everyday. I couldn't ask for better weather!
Now the downside of beautiful Texas springs... Bella has no shorts that fit her. Grandma took her to the doctor yesterday afternoon to make sure her runny nose was just that. Thank goodness she only has a little cold and is fine. But when I went to pick her up at Grandma's she was in a cute shorts and tank top outfit. I had put her in jeans and a short sleeved shirt, but Mom said she was hot and sweaty when she got outside. So today during my lunch break I am off to Target to shop for shorts, tank tops, and sandals. Gotta love that Texas weather!

Giving HIM Praise

March 18, 2009

I ready Kelly's & Ashley's (aka Grabbie) blogs and thought that this was too special to pass up! So today I am praising our Lord and Savior for everything I am truly thankful for!

My Family - I praise Hm and thankful for my entire family. For having a loving husband who is my everything. For my beautiful & delightful daughter, who is the light of my life! She is the reason I was put on this earth. To my Daddy, I am so thankful him & my Mom were my parents because I couldn't have asked for any better! For my sister, she is truly my best friend and I am thankful we are so close! For my nephew, whom I adore! He is such an intelligent 9 year old, he amazes me constantly! For my in-laws, they treat me like a daughter and I am so unbelievably thankful that I got to marry into that family! And for my sister and brother in law, they are such great people, whom we love hanging out with and Sandra has become on of my best friends.

My Friends- I have such wonderful genuine friends thank I thank the Lord they came into my life! Melissa, she is not only my best friend, but my sister. I trust her with my life and with my daughter's. We've known each other for over 12 years now and I am so happy we've stayed so close the whole time. Sonia, we've become so close over the past few years and I am thankful for that! For my friends back home, Kaylor, Ritter, Kristen, Heather, Amy, & Audrey I thank God we still keep in touch after being apart for 10 years. I know that I can call any one of them and talk for hours over nothing! It truly is great!

I praise the Lord for many things... Flip-flops, sunshine, coffee, tanning beds, sun dresses, OPI nail polish, Coach purses, mascara, cute shoes for toddlers, hair ties, my daughter's smile, tv's in the car, beautiful Texas weather, and mainly for giving me this life that I am most thankful for!

4 Days Left & Counting

That title just makes me happy! There is officially 4 days until we leave for vacation! Last night I finished up the laundry and packed Bella's bags. Yes, she has 3 bags going to Mel's house for a week. She's a girl, she's gotta have every article of clothing packed plus her 15 pairs of shoes! You never know what kind of weather we might have here in Texas!
So now that she is all packed, my husband is all packed, and I am almost all packed, I can finally start relaxing and getting excited to go! I do have to mop and dust on Friday night so we don't leave the house a mess for Chris who will be house/dog sitting all week. But that's not too big of a deal!
Bella is going to the doctor's office this afternoon because frankly, she just doesn't sound good. Her breathing is loud and congested, and she started a cough this morning. So to just make sure it's allergies and not a cold or sinus infection right before we leave, I thought seeing Dr. Booker would be best. She loves him, and he's been her doctor since she was born. Let's hope and pray it's allergies!
So, happy Wednesday. Halfway through the week has never been so sweet!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

March 17, 2009

Hope your wearing green! I love wearing green, but it seems I only like to wear it when I want to be comfy and not when I want to look somewhat nice for work. So this morning I found a cute tank top to wear and paired that with khaki's and a nice light sweater over it. I managed to look cute and nice for work while getting to wear the traditional green!
Some bad news right now, I am sick! And yes with less than a week left until vacay, I am not a happy camper. I think it's just allergies mixed with a cold, but last night I was running a slight fever which seemed to break while I slept. Today I am feeling better, no sore throat (yet!) and no fever. So please help me and pray I am healthy by Saturday! Not much to report about Bella since she spent the night at Grandma's house. I don't want to take any chances of her getting sick by next week.
So Happy St. Patrick's Day!! Have a green beer for me!

Back to Monday

March 16, 2009

This weekend went okay. Nothing too spectacular, but still nice. Saturday I went and got my hair done. Thank goodness because frankly, it was starting to get to me! Hate roots!! Aunt Sandra came over to watch Bella and when I got back we went to lunch. Bella was getting very restless and fussy so we hurried through lunch and got her home to take a nap. She slept almost 3 hours! Her usual is aroun 1 to 2. When Eric got home from work, Sandra & I went shopping for the cruise. We found practically nothing!! I got some jewelry and a light sweater incase it gets cold on the ship. Sandra got the same and a pair of jeans. We were both looking for maxi dresses!
Sunday Eric & I were planning on taking Bella to the fair & rodeo but since it was cold and rainy that was a no. So we ended up going to Chuck E Cheese instead. Let me tell you, that place has changed! We got there early so there weren't any birthday parties or tons of screaming kiddos. The main thing I noticed is that most of the rides and games are for older kids. There were very few Bella could do. And since we bought 80 tokens and every game/ride were 1 token only, we ended up bringing tokens home for later. Bella did well, but didn't seem too excited to be there. We ended our weekend at Eric's parents house because they haven't seen Bella in about a week. We had dinner there and came home. Let's just say last night was rough. Bella didn't go to sleep until 9 p.m. and woke up at 3 & 4 a.m. I finally let her sleep in our bed and I went to sleep on the couch. Getting lots of sleep tonight hopefully!

TGIF

March 13, 2009

I cannot tell you how happy I am that today is Friday. That means I have one more work week until the beautiful beaches and delicious food and drinks are in my sight! This weekend is going to be lot of fun. Tonight we are going to Melissa's house so Eric can play poker with Michael & friends. It's good because Eric gets some much needed fun and Bella gets to spend time with Melissa again!
Tomorrow Eric has to work and I have a hair appointment. (Which by the way, is also much needed!) So Aunt Sandra is coming over to watch Bella for a few hours until I can get home. When I get back Sandra, Bella, & I have a lunch date at Mesa Rosa. A little girl's time before Daddy gets home to watch Bella. Afterwards, Sandra & I are going cruise shopping all afternoon! We will definitely have a blast and gets lots of cute things!
Sunday we are taking Bella to the Rodeo. We're not really going to watch guys on horses rope bulls or anything, but to let Bella go to the petting zoo and carnival. She will love it! She loves animals already. Her favorite is Elephant, and although I am pretty sure they don't have elephants at the rodeo, she will more than likely love it anyway!
So here's to hoping everyone has a wonderful weekend! The stress of packing and getting everything set for the cruise starts Monday... Yea!

Here is a picture of our ship we will be sailing on. Huge is an understatement!!

All about Eric & I

March 12, 2009

Just in case you were wondering, here's a little fill in the blank about Eric & me. Enjoy!
What are your middle names? I really don't have a middle name. My 1st name is actually Summer-Leigh. Eric's middle name is Thomas after his Grandfather.
How long have you been together? Married for almost 5 years now and together for over 9 years! Crazy long for our age I know!!
Who asked who out? He kinda asked me out. I was at a party when he called and askedf if he could come over to hang out. We watched a movie and talked through the whole thing!
How old are each of you now? We're both 27.
How tall are each of you? I am 5'4" and Eric is around 5'10" I think!.
Whose siblings do you see the most? Since my sister lives 3 hours away, we see his sister Sandra the most. She's one of my bf along with my sister and Mel.
Do you have any children together? A beautiful daughter Bella!
What about pets? 2 Pugs - Tuggy & Roxie
Did you go to the same school? Nope not even the same college!
Are you from the same hometown? No, he's from Austin, & I am from Grand Prairie.
Who is the smartest? I would say Eric. I am smart but in different ways than him.
Who is the most sensitive? That's a toss up. Used to be Eric before I became a mom!
Where do you eat out most as a couple? Rudy's BBQ, Mesa Rosa, and Maudie's. Love the Mexican Food!
Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple? Canada so far, but we're going to Mexico & Honduras in a little over a week!
Who does the cooking? That'd be me. Every night during the week I cook when I get home from work.
Who is more social? Definitely me. He is a lot more social now than when we first met though!
Who is the neat-freak? Totally me! I am OCD about cleanliness. My house has to be clean which is hard when you have a 2 year old running around!
Who hogs the bed? He'd say me and I say him!
Who wakes up earlier? We both wake up at 6 a.m. on weekdays, and on weekends we wake up when Bella starts crying from waking up.
Who has the bigger family? I would guess Eric. He has so many cousins I couldn't even count them all!
How do you spend the holidays? Thanksgiving is usually at his parents house and my Dad's the following weekend. Christmas at both. His parents celebrate it on Christmas Eve, and mine celebrate on Christmas Day!
Do you have little pet names for each other? Sweetie, Baby, normal pet names.
How long did it take to get serious? Not very long. We kinda knew when we met.
Who eats more? Totally Eric. I give him more food than me. He'll eat all of his and half of mine!
Who sings better? Neither we both tank in that area!!
Who's older? He's older by 2 months!
Who does the dishes? He does. I cook he cleans afterwards!
Who snores? Neither thank goodness!!
Who's better with the computer? Definitely Eric. He's a genius on the computer! He taught me a lot about them though!

Catching up

March 11, 2009

On my way home last night Andrew, my old friend from college called, and asked what our plans were for a few hours. I was about 15 minutes away from home, so I told him to stop by. Him & Dawn came over and we caught up on how everyone is doing. They are moving back here next week, and moving virtually around the corner from us! It's funny how things happen!
Afterwards, I went over to Melissa's to bring Bella's information, insurance cards, & our house key. I just saw her last Friday but somehow no matter what we can talk for hours! It was also good seeing her cousin Chris who just got back from overseas. He is getting stationed in El Paso soon, so it was nice to catch up with him as well. We are going over on Friday so Eric can play poker with them and Bella can play with Mel until she gets too tired! It was a great evening and so happy to catch up with so many people!

Baby Fever

March 10, 2009

2009 seems to be turning into the year to have a baby! I have so many friends who are pregnant this year. I am so happy for each and every one of them! Bringing a baby into the world is the most blessed experience you can have. When we found out we were pregnant with Bella (Memorial Day 2006) I was so nervous and excited. I remember bawling like a baby because it all happened so quickly. We had started trying only 2 weeks earlier. Which I know means we are very lucky and blessed! The only thing that scared me was that we had just moved back to Austin and were 24. We had decided a long time before to start having children at 25, so this made perfect sense. We were both turning 25 that summer. Now we have an adorable toddler who is the love of our lives. We couldn't be an happier and know it's only going to get better from here. So to all my friends that are pregnant or just had a baby, Congratulations!! Eric, Bella, & I are so happy for you!!

And no, I am not pregnant, nor are we planning on trying anytime soon. Just happy for everyone else!!

Island Fever

March 9, 2009

There is a song I just heard by the great Jimmy Buffett (LOVE HIM!) called Island Fever. It describes me to perfection lately! I keep looking at pictures of the beaches in Honduras and Costa Maya so anxious and excited to be going there for the 1st time. I have already packed most of my new clothes that I won't wear until we are on the cruise. Which is just like me to A) overpack & B) Pack wayyy in advance!
Eric & I have pretty much decided on which excursions we will go on at each island. More than that, Eric, Bella, & I danced to Margaritaville over and over again yesterday in our living room! (Side note: I have played that song twice since getting to work today at my desk!)
So yes I officially have Island Fever, and have no way of getting rid of it until we board the cruise Sunday afternoon!!

Less than 2 weeks away!!

Living off No Sleep

This weekend was pretty fun. I dropped Bella off at Melissa's house after work Friday so she can get more used to them. I thought she would cry & scream when I left, but she just kissed me and said "Bye Momma!" I checked in on her on our way to Chuy's and she was watching Barney and playing. Eric & I had Chuy's and even without meat it was delicious! I had quesadillas and when I told the guy no meat, he gave me a sideways glance and said "Whatever you fancy!" Haha. But they were good and so was the Mexican Martini! We got back to Melissa's around 8:30 p.m. that night and she was hanging out dancing in their living room. Made me feel so much better about the vacation knowing she is okay and used to them.
Saturday, we just relaxed in the morning and headed to Gatti Town for lunch. She rode on her 1st marry-go-round and loved it! She kept saying "One more time, Dadda, just one more time!" Needless to say we were there for a while! When we finished we ran a few errands and Eric's parents asked if they could watch her for the night. So we dropped her off, ate dinner at Jardin Corona's and went home to relax. Eventhough I was kidless for the night, I was asleep by 9:30!
Sunday I met Sonia for lunch at Maki. It's kind of like Chipotle for sushi. We both loved it and only had to get one roll each they were so big!
The only downside of the weekend was last night. Bella barely fell asleep by 9 p.m. and kept waking up throughout the night. So I am running on fumes this morning! Hate Mondays!!

Update on the potty training: NOTHING! We tried numerous times everyday this weekend and Bella sat there and did nothing. So we'll keep trying until she gets it right. No rush, no worries!

How to Eat Chuy's During Lent

March 6, 2009

Honestly... I have no clue how to go eat Chuy's when you cannot eat meat. Yet during our conversation last night, Eric & I decided to try! He will get fish tacos no doubt, but I don't touch those, so I might have a bit of trouble. Tonight Melissa & Michael are watching Bella for a few hours to get her more acclimated to their house. We have exactly 2 weeks left until she will be staying over there for a whole week. So needless to say we have to get Bella used to them as much as possible! Eric & I are going to relax and eat dinner with a nice margarita.
By the way, why does the weeks preceeding vacation always drag on?! This week was horribly slow, yet I know the next 2 weeks will be worse!! So have a great weekend! Last thing!... I am wearing a white t-shirt with an adorable yellow & white scarf today! Can you tell I love reading Big Mama & Bring the Rain? LOVE those ladies!!

It's a nice night when I don't have to cook

March 5, 2009

Last night Eric had a meeting after work. This usually happens about twice a month, and when it does, Bella & I usually stop to get a bite to eat after daycare. This time I thought since we can't have Rudy's on our normal Friday due to lent, we'd have it Wednesday. So we drove out there and got the food. She would not let me put her down the whole time we stood in line, which wasn't really long, but still. When we got up there I asked the lady for extra bread because Bella likes to eat it on the way home. She was so nice and gave her a piece of bread while I was ordering. Bella snatched it out of her hand and then quietly said "Thank You." The poor lady just laughed and got our food. I felt terrible! Afterwards when we got home, we ate together and got her ready for bed. She still has not actually gone potty at home yet. We try at least once in the mornings and twice at night. Not happening! We'll keep working and see how it goes. Have a good Thursday!! Anyone have an idea of where Eric & I can take Bella on Saturday to just get away for a bit? We want to have a family day, and Chuch E Cheese scares me to death!!

Follow up to the Bachelor

March 4, 2009

So I watched the after the rose 2 thingy last night for about 1/2 of it. First off, Yeah Melissa for not showing up to this show. You are smarter than most of the people on that show! Second, really Molly? How utterly stupid are you for giving up your life and moving to Seattle to be with a guy who is so fickle?! Lastly, Jason, you are still a spineless jerk! Okay off of that now...
Let's get back to my real life now. Yesterday was a pretty good day. Bella did okay with potty training at school, when she got home it was a no go. That's okay, Eric & I have started getting up about 10 minutes earlier to help her with potty training in the mornings. We'll see how it goes. I got to talk to one of my great friends from high school last night. We started catching up like always and when Kristen & I get together, it's like no time has passed. We were on the phone laughing and chatting for 45 minutes last night. Eric just sat on the computer to pass the time! She's such a bubbly, good hearted person, and one of my dear friends! I also got to catch up with Melissa. She just got back from California Monday night and it was good to catch up with her and to talk to her about watching Bella for the week. She seems excited to have Bella stay there. I am blessed to have such a wonderful friend! Overall, a great night. Tonight I have to get back to the grindstone and work out. Slacking off is not an option with 2 weeks until vacation!!

The Bachelor

March 3, 2009

So all I've been hearing about is The Bachelor finale last night. Let me first start by saying I did not watch the entire season; just the finale to see what was going to be so shocking. I've watched most of the past Bachelor/Bachlorette seasons, but seeing as they never work out, I decided not to waste 2 months of my life on something that has no ending.
Now before the show started, I LOVED Jason. Thought he and Deanna were perfect for each other. Wow could I have been anymore wrong?! Jason is a scumbag!! I do think Melissa knew in advance as well as Molly about what was going to happen at the After the Final Rose show. It seemed very scripted to me. Melissa came out mad in the beginning before he even said anything to her. But still, who is so spineless to break up with a girl he proposed to weeks before on NATIONAL TELEVISION?!?!? Can you spell JERK! And I could count the 24 times he cried in the 3 hour show! Like he cared so much for both of them. Whatever. I feel bad not only for Melissa, but for his son Ty who was drug through this whole thing to think he found his new step-mom only to find out she won't be. That's terrible on a 4 year old.
Lastly, to only prove my theory about this show being totally scripted, did you see Deanna show up right before the rose ceremony to ask him back? Could she look anymore NON-interested in getting him back?! She should have said, "Look the producers are making me come here to beg for you to take me back, but honestly I just want another minute or two of fame!"
Okay I am done now. Oh yeah, just incase you are wondering, I will of course be tuning in tonight to see what is going on with the 3 of them now. Here's my prediction... Melissa has met a new man and is crazy in love with him. Molly & Jason tried to make it work, but the first time he sensed anything going wrong he dumped her too. Molly is now dating someone new as well. Let's see how close I get tonight to the "truth".

BIG NEWS!!

We have some big news about Bella... She went potty for the 1st time yesterday!! Woo-Hoo! I went to pick her up at daycare and spoke to Ms. Tammy her teacher. She said her diaper was dry all day, and Bella went potty everytime! She said once Bella sat there for about 10 minutes and she went to take her off the potty and Bella screamed No! So she put her back on and Bella went potty right after. We are so proud and excited for her! We ofcourse called and texted every family member to let them know. We also danced and played with her to celebrate when we got home. What an exciting time! She just started potty training last week. My big girl!! Can you tell I'm a proud Momma?!

Full Weekend

March 2, 2009

Friday night was so nice. I cooked a shrimp pasta thing that came out wonderful! Even Bella liked eating it. We stayed home and just relaxed and spent time as a family all night. Saturday morning, we woke up early like usual and headed to our hidden Walmart. I can tell you I am not a fan of Walmart, but we did find a nice new one that is kinda hidden from the street, so when we need to we go to that one. The reason for going is for a scarf! I am loving wearing a white t-shirt and a cute spring scarf. I found an adorable yellow one for $5 there! Score! Afterwards, we came home, ate lunch, and let Bella take a nap. When she woke up we went to Grandma & Grandpa's house. We watched some basketball and played with Bella. She ended up staying the night there so that we could have dinner and hang out with some friends.
That night we met up with 2 of my friends and ate at my favorite place, Maudie's. It was delicious. I felt kind of bad for Eric, he was the only guy with 4 girls the whole night. But he was a trooper and said he had a lot of fun. We ended up going to Kona Grill afterwards, but it was outside and freezing, so we left and went downtown. Eric & I haven't been to 5th or 6th Street in years, but it was fun. The next morning we woke up and went grocery shopping before Bella came home. When Grandpa dropped her off, I ran out to meet her and she ran to me yelling "Mama!!" She looked so adorable!! We just hugged and I gave her tons of kisses. Then she left me and ran to Dada!
All Sunday we played at home, and she watched Barney's 20th Anniversary twice in a row, dancing the whole time!
I realized yesterday that we leave in 3 weeks for the cruise. I am excited but ended up having an anxiety attack last night knowing I won't see Bella for a whole week. Like I've said in previous posts, I know she will be fin and have fun, it's just me being a mom and stressing like always! I am fine this morning, just anxious I guess!!
