Scarf Season

I usually don't post about clothing or fashion on here, but I love to shop & love new trends!  Even though it's still 110 degrees here, the weathermen keep telling us Autumn is on it's way.  It usually hits Texas around mid to end of October, but that doesn't mean we can't start shopping for it now!

One of my favorite fall/winter accessories is the scarf.  I LOVE wearing a plain t-shirt and a cute scarf.  You looked dressed up even though you are super comfy, and you get lots of compliments!  Here's some of my favorite scarfs for Fall 2011!
The Madmen Collection Silk Betty Scarf

The Satin Multi-Color Infinity Scarf

Metallic-Stripe Infinity Scarf

Lulu Floral & Animal Pattern Infinity Scarf

These are my favorites so far for the year! Can you tell I love the infinity scarf & tons of color?! Now, if only the temps would get below 90 so I don't die of heat exhaustion trying to sport these cuties!!

Weekend Wrap Up

So I completely forgot to upload our pictures from the weekend, so those will be on tomorrow's post.  (Hopefully, as long as I don't forget to upload tonight again!)

Saturday, we took Bella to her swim class and she was excited, but we noticed that she was very nervous in her class.  That's totally opposite of her EVER, so after class I talked to her teacher, and he said she's been that way since we got her back in classes.  (Note to new readers: We had tons and tons of traveling this Summer & she was without swim classes for 6 weeks straight! Stupid vacations!) We talked to her about it after class and she said she is just nervous with her teacher.  Mr. Isaac is supposed to come back this weekend, so hopefully she'll be back to normal in no time.

After swimming, we went home to get her cleaned up & headed to Costco for our bi-yearly get everything-we-can-even-think-we-might-need-shopping event.  And it only took an hour an a half!  Bella was super hungry by the time we got there, so being the awesome parents we are, we went around to all the free samples and fed her that way.  She was actually full by the time we made it to the hot dogs! Nice free lunch... SCORE!

Saturday evening, Eric grilled hamburgers & I made french fries for dinner, then we relaxed and watched shows with Bella until we were all tuckered out and ready for bed at precisely 7:30 p.m.  Bella was asleep in her bed as were we all by 8 p.m. at the latest! Just lovely!

Sunday, we got up bright and early (since all of us had slept for 11 hours!) and I made omelets for breakfast.  We then went to church where Bella got to play with her friends and learn about Jonah and the Whale.  We surprised her after church and took her to Chuck E Cheese for lunch.  She has slept in her own bed all week without any problems, and we thought that deserves a little pizza, games, and a huge mouse walking around and singing!  She had the best time & we decided to run to the Domain to drop a shirt off that I didn't want.  While I went into the store to return it, Eric sat in the shade and let Bella play in the water area.  The high yesterday was literally 112, so he let her get soaking wet and have the time of her life.  I came back and we sat and watched her for about 30 more minutes before heading home.

To say she was tired would be putting it mildly, and was napping in her bed in no time while I cleaned and Eric mowed the dead grass also known as our front yard.  All in all, a wonderful fun weekend complete with extreme heat and no rain.  Joy!

1 More Week!!

August 26, 2011

1 Week from Saturday UT will host the Rice Owls for the kickoff to football season!! Since it's 150 dergees here everyday, they pushed the time back until 7 p.m. for kickoff, which is perfect!

Last year the Horns sucked it up having a 5-7 record, but with all new coaches (except for the Awesome Mack Brown!!) I have a feeling we'll turn it around this year!! I got myself 2 UT shirts to wear this year & will change them out every weekend to cheer them onto victory!!

I hope everyone who loves college football is excited as we are to finally start the new season!!

Getting Used to A No Toddler House

August 25, 2011

Bella working on her 1st homework!

On Tuesday, I went to pick Bella up from school and her teacher told me that every Tuesday & Thursday she will now have homework to do.  I knew it was coming, but it still scared the crud out of me to know the baby girl I still think of as a toddler is having to do homework twice a week!

She also said that the kids get to decide if they want to take a nap everyday.  Hello?! My daughter will always choose to skip nap time when given the decision!

My little baby isn't even a toddler anymore and that makes me happy, but also saddens me.  As you know, she is going to be our only child (unless God has other plans for us), so with her going to actual school, having homework, & now spending a lot of time in her bedroom watching tv or reading, I feel old! It's exciting but also quite scary to know she is growing up too quickly...

Anyone else going through the same thing?

The Muppets in Theaters Nov. 23rd!!

August 23, 2011

I am so excited for the new Muppets movie to come out! I LOVED the Muppets growing up and now get to let my daughter experience the same happiness I felt when watching their movies!

Here's the Muppet's Theme Song with OK Go!

Disclaimer: I am a Disney Insider and was given the video to pass along to my readers.  I was in no way compensated for a positive or favorable review.

And We're Out...

Yesterday was Bella's 1st day of Excel class.  It's the same thing as kindergarten at her daycare, but since she's only 4, she'll have to go to kinder again next year so as not to confuse her, we just call it Excel Class.  Here's the rundown of her 1st day...

Momma forgot to take any type of pictures before school because I was running around picking up toys, making breakfast & lunches, and trying to get to work at a reasonable hour.  So I figured, I'd take a few pics after I picked her up that day... not so much! Eric said she did wonderful when he took her to school.  No crying with the new teacher & really excited to start her big girl class! When I picked her up at 4 p.m., she was happy, I met her new teacher, Ms. Trish & she said Bella was an angel all day!  Woo-hoo!!!

On the drive home Bella was super quiet.  (Not normal when Radio Disney is on, she knows EVERY SINGLE SONG) I asked her about her day and she replied in one word answers, so I left it.  I soon realized her very favorite Selena Gomez song was playing and no singing was coming from the back seat... I look in my rear view & Bella is asleep in her booster seat! She hasn't fallen asleep after school since she was an infant, so I was utterly shocked! I woke her up once we got home & she went to her room to lay in bed and watch tv while Momma hopped into the shower.

I checked back in on her and she was awake & happy, so we went downstairs so I could make dinner. Bella went right to the couch and got her blankie.  She never fell back asleep, but she might have said 3 words to me before Daddy got home.  Amazing!  Grandma, Aunt Tanya, & Cousin Austyn all called to see how her 1st day went and she told them all the same thing... "It was a GREAT day!"

Momma agrees

Weekend Wrap Up - Crawl For Cancer Edition

August 22, 2011

This weekend was so much fun! Saturday we participated in Crawl for Cancer.  It was a blast like always & everyone had a fun & safe time!

Some of the girls on my team!
Lisa, Me, Sonia, Vicky, & Jessika
Eric & I participating in our 4th crawl!

Sunday we decided it was time for Bella to get her own tv in her room.  She actually never uses her room at all except to pick out her clothes and shoes (which Momma usually does for her), so we thought that since she was starting kindergarten today (she's going to take a kindergarten class at her daycare to get ready for public school next year!) that it was time she started sleeping in her own bed.  The best way to get her to do that? Put a tv in her room! So we went to Best Buy & got a small flat screen to put on her dresser.  She was uber-excited!  We've decided that at 7:30 she'll get her bath, then watch one tv show before bed in her room.  She was very happy with that idea!
We also cleaned out our closet & Bella's and managed 4 huge garbage bags full of clothes and shoes to donate.  Bella actually loves to help decide what clothes, shoes, & toys to donate and we feel it's a good message to help people in need.  We dropped everything off at Goodwill before heading to get her new tv.  She was so excited she waved goodbye to the man who took our bags from the car! We just laughed, but was glad to know she understands that we are blessed to have the lives we do, and not everyone is that lucky, so we help as much as possible.
Last night went well until the tv turned off and her bedroom got dark.  Then she got scared & we went and comforted her until she fell asleep.  Around 2 a.m. she had a nightmare, so Daddy went and slept in her room to keep her comforted.  All in all, not a horrible first night in the big girl room!

Time To Crawl!

August 19, 2011

Tomorrow we are getting the gang together again and going crawling!! If you don't know what I'm talking about, please check out this post I wrote about Crawl for Cancer. It truly is the best day with all your friends & knowing that you're helping people in your city out just by joining! We'll be pub crawling around downtown Austin most of the day & plan on taking it super easy that night!  I love that we get to do this once a year here in Austin, and we're praying we don't die of heat the whole time we out there.
I can't wait & will be posting tons (I always say tons & I end up posting like 3 pictures!!) of pictures on Monday!!

Sunday, we're picking Bella up from Grandma's, heading to church, then taking the day easy & spending it together.  We'll likely grill steaks & asparagus as usual on Sundays & just enjoy the day off.
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!

God Gave Me You

August 18, 2011

On Tuesday night, Eric & I decided to break out our IPhones & play different music from the "kid's" section on ITunes for Bella.  She loved it because we played a bunch of theme songs from her favorite cartoons, & a ton of Phineaus & Ferb music.  Afterwards, we put on some of her favorite country songs to dance to.  We had a great time just singing along to the music and watching her dance.

Eric went upstairs to get her bath going, & I decided to play a song I have loved even before it went country.  The song is called "God Gave Me You" and Blake Shelton has remade it, which I love! When I started playing it Bella got excited because she knows the words to most of the song.  So we sat together & sang the chorus.  She then looked at me and said, "Mommy this is our song.  God gave me you because you're such a great mommy & I'm glad he did!" My heart just melted right there! I told her I was the one that's blessed because God gave me her.  Then we hugged and played the song again, while I cried with happiness!

If you haven't heard this song, please listen, it's so awesome!!

Bella Update Finally!

August 8, 2011

It's been a while since I gave everyone an update on Bella.  She's now 4 1/2 and growing like crazy.  I had to cut her jeans off to make shorts this summer because they were all too short.  I have no clue where she is getting her height from, but it's definitely not Eric or me!

She is in swimming classes still and almost at level 5.  She keeps telling me she's not that good, but I beg to differ.  She can swim under water the width of the pool, dive 4 1/2 feet down without help, and is learning to hit the wall and roll over to her back.  Seems like she's a natural to me!

She was able to meet and play with tons of her cousins while we were on vacation a few weeks back, and now keeps asking when she's going to have a baby brother or sister.  I keep telling her not to worry about that and to just have fun, but that doesn't seem to help.  We're honestly not planning on having any more children unless God has other plans for us, but it breaks my heart to tell her that.  We're hoping she'll get over this soon, but with her it's doubtful!

She has started kindergarten at her daycare.  She will be in regular kindergarten next September, but this will get her ready for public school.  She really seems to like it & have a lot of fun in class.  She's getting along with her classmates well too!

Mommy & Bella on our vacation
All in all, she's a perfect, healthy 4 year old & one that we're so thankful to have!

Weekend Wrap Up

Lot's of birthday celebrations all weekend!  We headed to Dallas after work to my Dad's house.  It's amazing what a DVD player & Leapfrog can do on long road trips to 4 year olds! She was an angel the whole drive!

Saturday, we went to visit a friend of the family's before heading back to my Dad's so he could start cooking.  We celebrated the 1st birthday of the day (my nephew Austyn's 12th Birthday) by having a huge Puerto Rican brunch at Dad's, then letting him open gifts & having cookie cake.  He got a cool bike, some $$, & a video camera.  He was really excited, so he went bike riding in front of my Dad's while most of us decided to nap a little.  After all the girl's woke up, we went and did a little retail therapy! My sister got me these beautiful wine glasses with my name on them & a cute Longhorn's shirt for my birthday!  My brother & SIL got me some pretty & comfy black flip flops with crosses on the bottom.  I was super excited!

For dinner, my family surprised me and took me to Mariano's Mexican Restaurant in Arlington.  It's been there forever and has the best Margaritas! We had a lot of fun & they sang me happy birthday, while I tried to figure out which way the sombrero fit on my head!

Laughing because I had the hat on wrong!

My birthday Sopapilla!
We all headed back to Dad's and ended up having a big family sleepover there.  Sunday morning, Dad made a huge breakfast for all of us before we headed back to Austin.  It was such a fun weekend with my family & started my 30th birthday off in fine fashion!

The Big 12!!

August 5, 2011

Today is my nephew/godson's 12th birthday!! Austyn Ray is such a handsome, smart, funny boy & I love that him & Bella get along so perfectly when they are together.  I love that boy like he's my own & cannot believe he's turning 12!! I still remember holding him in the hospital, taking him to meet my friends at the coffee shop when he was a few months old, and going to the waterpark with him.

Austyn, your cousin, uncle, & I all love you very much!! We're so happy to be celebrating your birthday with you Saturday!! Hope you have a blessed birthday!!

Sesame Place!

August 4, 2011

While in New York last week, my family all went to Pennsylvania for the day to take the kids to Sesame Place.  Bella had a blast going on the water slides, watching the parade, eating off Elmo's plate, etc.  We definitely want to go back again!  Here's a video of all the cousin's taking their last ride together before we left.  It's the Rubber Ducky Ride (aka Ernie's favorite toy!) and they all loved being able to ride it together! Enjoy!!
