Weekend Wrap Up

January 31, 2011

This weekend was like a small rollercoaster.  We had ups & downs, but overall it was a good weekend.  The weathermen all said it would be warm and rainy all weekend, so Saturday morning we headed to get groceries before the storms came.  Bella kept asking and asking to go to Grandma’s, so once we got home we called Grandma & Grandpa and went over for lunch.  We decided to let Bella stay overnight since she was so excited so it ended up freeing us for the night.  We decided to try a new restaurant in Georgetown that was great, then went to Eric’s friends’ house to hang out for a while.  Never once rained all day, nice and 78 degrees!

Sunday Bella came home around 11 a.m. and her & Daddy went to the park to fly her kite and play on the swings since it was also sunny and 81 degrees!!  We finished the day by celebrating Melissa’s birthday at their house with a delicious dinner.  Bella & Ally got to play & watch Barney together and it was a great evening!

Bella has her 1st field trip ever this week!  They are going to the post office to see how the mail works.  She is super excited to ride on the school bus with all her friends!  Happy Monday!

LillyMae Handbag Review!

January 29, 2011

If you know me, you know I am obsessed with handbags.  I love carrying around big cute handbags, but they get very heavy and when I want to work out, I always have to leave it in my car and hope nothing happens to it.  That's why when I was asked to review LillyMae Handbags I was super excited! These bags are a fanny pack, purse, & cross body bag all in one!  They are adjustable so they always fit!  This purse was prefect for me when I needed to run to the grocery store or go workout!  LillyMae Bags are small enough to not get in the way, yet big enough to fit my driver's license, IPhone, & credit cards.  They come in lots of cute styles & colors!

They even have a place to pull your headphones through!
This purse will definitely get used a lot around our house!  They are even good for kids to hold their MP3 players & men to use when working out! (They have an all black one so the guys will love them!)  I told my MIL about them and she wants to buy one for going to Vegas!  She says she always worries about someone grabbing her purse when she's at the tables or slot machines, so  this is PERFECT for her!  She can cross it over herself and know her things are protected.

Trying on my new handbag!

Here's the Best Part:

Lillymae Handbags are even giving my readers a 15% discount! Just click here to go to the website and decide which purse is your favorite.

Managing Our Family Finances Review

Thank you to TurboTax for sponsoring my writing about household finances.Learn more about how TurboTax can help you find every tax deduction you deserve. I was selected for this sponsorship by the
Clever Girls Collective
, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.

Growing up money and finances was always a big deal in my house.  From my parents making sure I go to college, to working and saving enough to be able to afford their home and a lake house, etc. So, when Eric & I got married we both agreed that saving and planning were going to be a big deal in our household.  When we first started managing our finances, I was working at a bank and thought I knew everything... boy was I wrong!  I realized that we really cannot save every single penny, but we can save a little at a time.  Any time we get any extra on our paychecks, they go straight into savings.  Also, we try to put a portion of each paycheck into Bella's college fund.  We started that tradition when I first found out I was pregnant.  My Dad also puts money into a college fund for her every birthday, Christmas, Easter, etc.  We are hoping she'll get scholarships, and this money can go getting her first house one day, but just in case that doesn't happen, we hope to have enough saved for her to get her bachelor's degree at the school of her choice.

So here's some suggestions we have to help keep control of your finances and maybe even save a little!

1) Make a budget.  Know what bills you need to pay each week and write them down or have them in your computer so that none are ever late.  We always pay bills before we ever go out to eat at a restaurant or go catch a movie, etc.  Those are just perks, not necessities.

2) Keep every receipt.  This way you can look at your checking account online and make sure it matches the receipts you have.  This will also help combat identity theft.  I have heard horror stories of checkers at stores adding an extra couple dollars on your tab and never even know it.

A look at how we budget our finances every week
3) Our last suggestion is keep it simple.  Know how much you have in your checking/savings account, and know what you need to spend.  Make a list for groceries, and keep a calculator with you when grocery shopping.  Know what your max to spend at the grocery store is and try not to go over it unless it's needed.

We're no experts on finances, but we live happily & not stressful.  We try to go out once or twice a month, nothing to extravagant, but just a quiet night out.  We really hope this helps at least a few of you & would love comments on how your family budgets and finances!

Purex Crystals Fabric Softener Review & Giveaway!

January 20, 2011

I am proud to announce that I am a Purex Insider!  I get to try the newest Purex brand samples and review them on my blog!  How great is that?! I am so excited to be a part of the Purex Insider group!

A few days ago I got a sample of Purex Crystals Fabric SoftenerIntroducing Purex® Complete Crystals SoftenerTM*; a purer way to get laundry that smells clean and fresh for weeks. 92% natural, this product’s unique crystal form works differently than traditional oil-based softeners that coat fabrics with oily residue, because it infuses fibers with long-lasting fragrance. In addition, since you add it directly with your laundry, this means no more waiting for the rinse cycle, no messy residual gunk in your washing machine, and no more stains from spilling liquid fabric softener.

3 different scents to choose from!

I put it in my laundry last night and was amazed at how great my clothes smelled and even after going through the dryer, they still smelled wonderful!  I am wearing a shirt today that was laundered last night and can smell it, but it's not overwhelming, just perfect!  Did you know that most softeners are oil based?  I did not and realized that this new softener was completely different and so much better than any I have used in the past! Purex Crystal Softener is 92% Natural! That's amazing for a fabric softener!

It starts in your washing machine, then stays while your clothes go through the dryer & creates a long lasting fresh scent while you wear them!  It's definitely something my family has started and will keep using!  We love the way our clothes turned out!

Giveaway:

Purex Crystals Softener is available at Walmart starting December 28, 2010, & will be available at grocery stores, convenient store, and others by the end of January!  But you can win a coupon for a FREE BOTTLE here!

3 entries will win!
 Giveaway ends February 10th @ 7 p.m. CST!

Weekend Wrap Up

January 17, 2011

We had such a wonderfully fun weekend!  Friday night we picked up dinner on the way home and then Bella decided she wanted to watch "Princess and the Frog" for movie night instead of "Ratatouille", so we popped it in and the 3 of us had tons of fun & laughs while Bella danced around our living room to the music!  She was so excited to have movie night and we all loved the movie!

Saturday I went and got my hair done.  I decided to go lighter and love the way it turned out!  Grandma & Grandpa came over and Bella & Grandma went shopping while Daddy & Grandpa put Bella's car together.  By the time I got home, they were done and Bella & Grandma were picking Grandpa up.  She actually got upset because she thought she was going to have to spend the rest of the day with us!  Ha!  After they left, Eric & I went out for lunch at Chuy's.  We had a lot of fun relaxing and catching up.  We came back and watched some NFL before heading out on our "Date Night". We went to Piranha Sushi downtown and had so much fun!

Sunday Bella came home and we ended up going to Wally World to go grocery shopping. It was cold and rainy, so we came home, ate lunch, Bella took a nap, then we pulled out the Wii & proceeded to dance for the next 30 minutes!  It was hilarious to see Bella sing and dance to "Who Let the Dogs Out!"

Overall, a great weekend!  Today I am off work for MLK Day, so I just worked out, had breakfast, and am having some green tea before going out to get Bella's party favors!  Have a wonderful day!!

What I LOVE about Texas

January 14, 2011

I was reading a wonderful blog called TexaGermaNadian and she was talking about Bucc-ee's gas stations located all over Texas.  (They are seriously awesome & have the BEST bathrooms to stop at!)

It got me thinking about all the awesome things I love about my home state of Texas.  I thought I'd list a few here and would love to start something where bloggers from all over blog about their favs from their states!  How great would that be?!  Especially if you're planning on traveling anytime and need some tips on where to stop!  So here I go with my favs in Texas: (Warning: Most if not all will be about food! Ha!)

1)  Absolutely the BEST bbq ever is at Rudy's BBQ! Our family eats there every Friday night and it never gets old!  We are true believers in good Texas BBQ  & this is by far one of the absolute best bbq places ever, and has locations all over our great state and others as well!

2)  The other best BBQ ever is in a little town south of Austin called Driftwood.  It's called The Salt Lick . It has been on the Travel Channel & Food Network as one of the best bbq restaurants in the US!!  Here's the kicker... they only take cash & since it's out in the middle of nowhere, it's BYOB!  Everyone comes carrying their coolers and seeing the open pit bbq right when you walk in!  The food is unbelievable!  They even have an all you can eat bbq plate that is unreal!

3) Maudie's Mexican Food - When I'm not eating tons and tons of bbq, I am usually eating Mexican Food!  (You cannot get better Mexican food than in Texas!  Trust me, we've tried!)  They have the absolute best Mexican food & Mexican Martini's ever!  In case you don't know, a Mexican martini is like a margarita, but smoother!  Awesome drink and my personal favorite!  This place is great and priced really well.  We try to go often!

4) HEB's - Yep this is somewhat about food, but HEB is our local grocery store.  HEB's have everything!  My Dad lives in Dallas area and is waiting for them to open one by him.  He said they opened one in the area about a month ago and the day they opened the line was around the block to get in!  They have wonderful bakery, a sushi restaurant in it, a lunch restaurant in it, etc.  They have great deals on food & are always the lowest prices in the area.   Just awesome!

5) My last one is not going to be a store or restaurant... it's the people of Texas!  We have such wonderful, caring, awesome Southerners here!  People open doors for you, say "Howdy!" when you see them, ask how your family and kids are doing even if you just saw them yesterday, etc.  I couldn't imagine more kind hearted, loving people then here in Texas!  I am extremely proud to be born and raised in this great state and yes the old saying is true... "Everything is BIGGER in TEXAS!!"

Please post about your state and leave a comment below so I can go and read all about it!  I am so excited to learn about our great country!!

Update on Our Fun Times

January 13, 2011

I've been posting reviews and giveaways lately, but haven't actually posted anything about the Munoz Family.  So here it goes...

We're in the midst of planning for Bella's 4th birthday party.  We're having it at Pump it Up and invited her classmates as well as friends.  We're so excited and ready for it to hurry up and get here.  Ha!  We bought Bella her 1st car for her birthday (granted it's a Power Wheels Pink Mustang, but it's still a car!) Eric & Grandpa are putting it together Saturday, which hopefully won't take too long!  We also sent out the adorable invitations last week and put them in her classmates' cubbies last Friday.

Another new thing is that we started making Friday nights Family Movie Night!  Bella just LOVES it!  We pop in a Disney movie, pop some popcorn, and enjoy spending time with the 3 of us for an entire evening without worrying about cooking, cleaning, bed times, etc.  It really is the highlight of our week!  Last week we watched "Despicable Me", then decided to have another family movie night Saturday night and watched "Toy Story 3".  Tomorrow night "Ratatouille" is on the menu! (Sorry for the pun!)  All 3 of us are pretty excited and hoping not to run out of good kids movies any time soon.  (Phinneaus & Ferb are supposedly making a new movie, so you know 1st chance we get, that will be on!)

This Saturday, Eric & I are having a date night.  I went on http://www.restaurant.com/ and got a $25 gift card at Piranha Sushi for only $3!!! (They are already discounted, I put the code PLATE in when checking out and got 70% off!!) Isn't that insanely awesome?!  So we're cashing that in Saturday night downtown and enjoying sushi that isn't packaged and sold in HEB! Ha!

So thanks for catching up, I promise to do this more often (or at least try!) Have a wonderful weekend!!

Toggle Bandz Review

January 9, 2011

I was delighted when I got the opportunity to try Toggle Bandz out! They are adjustable headbands that actually stay on Bella's head without sliding off! Bella was born with & has always had a TON of hair, and it's always a chore to try and keep her hair away from her face.  Thank goodness for Toggle Bandz!!  They held ALL DAY in her hair and since they are adjustable, the fit perfectly on her head!

1st time trying the Toggle Bandz on. Bella's wearing the blue polka dot headband.  She LOVES it!

How cute is this?!
Toggle Bandz come in lots of different ribbon choices & can be custom ordered. We got a blue & brown polka dot also a pink & black striped headband which both matches her outfits perfectly!

Bella sporting the pink & black striped headband

She kept wanting to wear the polka dotted headband!

I think she likes them... A LOT! Ha!

My adorable daughter's hair is finally not in her eyes! Woo-Hoo!
Toggle Bandz is a new way to keep the headbands on yours or your daughter's head without sliding off.  They have a neat closure at the bottom that's adjustable. You can go to their website and order or  click here to like them on Facebook and try one (or a few!) out!

Disclosure: I was offered the opportunity to review the Toggle Bandz and given the headbands to try to see how they work. I was in no way compensated to write a positive or favorable review, the opinions expressed are My Munoz Family's personal opinion!
