Empire State of Mind

July 21, 2011

A) I LOVE Jay Z! I absolutely love "Empire State of Mind"

B) We leave for New York tomorrow morning!!

C) I will totally NOT be posting on my vacation.
Instead I will be spending time with my family (Abuela, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, etc. etc. etc.), shopping (aka buying EVERYTHING H&M has in stock!), & eating my way through all of next week!

So, as I sign off for the last time in July, I leave you with this awesome song about this awesome city!
Enjoy & I'll be posting massive amounts of pictures once we get back!

The Genius of Email

July 19, 2011

When I was 17 years old, I was introduced to email.  My boyfriend at the time was in the military & told me about actually getting on the internet and sending a letter that he would get instantly.  What?! You mean I don't have to sit down with a pen & paper and mail you a letter to California anymore?! Perfection!  So together we set up my email address. (which I still use today!) The very next morning I checked it and he had written me my 1st ever email!! I was so excited! I even printed and framed it because I thought that this was the start of something big!

Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Titus!

Over the weekend we went back to Dallas to celebrate Kristen & Ryan's wedding.  Kristen & I have been friends since high school, and would not have missed her wedding for the world! She was such a beautiful bride & the wedding and reception were fabulous! Eric got to meet a few of my friends from high school including Heather whom I've known since I was 7!

Costume Discounters Review

July 14, 2011

Every year my friend & her husband have a huge Halloween party at their ranch outside Austin.  We usually get to make it every other year to celebrate, but I always end up worrying about what to dress up as & how Eric & I can be matchy matchy for it.  This year we are definitely going & I am so excited that I don't have to stress out!

Seriously, 1 Week?!

July 13, 2011

I just realized today that we have a little over a week left until we fly to New York.  This will be Bella's first airplane ride, so we decided to break it up & have a layover in Chicago both ways.  That way she can run around & we can grab lunch before getting on another plane & going to NYC.  Here's why I'm already trying not to stress & go crazy...

Sporting A New 'Do!

July 12, 2011

Yesterday after school, I took Bella to Pigtails & Crewcuts to get her hair cut.  It was getting super long & tangled all the time and with the 150 degree heat we're having, I thought cutting it would be best for everyone.  She was so excited to get her hair cut, she actually screamed when we pulled up! There was a short wait, but she was able to play with the trains to keep her busy, so we were able to step by the meltdown that might have happened having to wait for 5 minutes.

Weekend Wrap Up

July 11, 2011

This weekend we took Friday off work & headed to my hometown to celebrate my Dad's birthday.  It was such a fun weekend & when we got to town, my Dad and nephew were there waiting for us.  The cousins got to play & after work my sister came over.  We all had my Dad's favorite pizza for dinner & just had fun catching up.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

July 8, 2011

Tomorrow is my Dad's birthday & we're going to celebrate!

My Dad has always been there for us no matter what.  Our family has been through a lot together & we've always remained close knit because of the way he & my mom brought us up.  My Dad is and has always been one of my hero's & I am so excited to celebrate his birthday with him and my entire family Saturday!

The Importance of Email

July 7, 2011

I along with most of America use email on a daily basis. My immediate family lives in the Dallas area, my Aunts, Uncles, Grandma, etc. live in New York, Montreal, Ohio, etc. I could go on and on. Since keeping up with family & friends is extremely important to me, email becomes the staple in my household. I love sending emails with pictures of Bella and how big she is getting. I love finding out one of my cousins is expecting a baby soon and that my Abuela is doing well. I actually talk to my Dad through email more than we do on the phone. Everyone’s schedules are so crazy, and no matter what time of the day or night, I can jump online and send a quick message to Dad or my sister and know by the next morning, they’ll know what I didn’t want to forget.
How could I not want everyone to see these adorable people?
Because of Yahoo! we are able to send a letter instantly instead of mailing it and waiting for days for that person to get it. I remember having a pen pal in elementary school who lived in another state, and it would take at least a week or so to send her a letter and get a response back. I can’t imagine how great that will be when Bella gets older to have a pen pal who she can email back and forth to instantly! She can know exactly what's going on in her friend's lives almost instantly & not have to wait and walk to the mailbox everyday hoping a letter came for her.  I actually email one of Bella's old classmate's Mom since they moved away so that Bella can know that her friend is doing well.  She just loves it when I tell her that we received an email from her mom!  Even though they are states away from each other, because of the email, they are able to remain good friends, and that's something I will always be grateful for.

I absolutely love this video because it's exactly like me & sending pictures of Bella to everyone!

Nana & T's Creations {Review & Giveaway!}

July 5, 2011

I love dressing my daughter up for the holidays & 4th of July was no different.  Bella is a pretty big tom boy when it comes to clothes, so being able to find a dress or skirt for her to wear is usually like pulling teeth to get her to agree to wear it.  When I got the chance to review Nana & T's Creations, I was super excited but also a little worried that Bella wouldn't wear it.  I was completely wrong!  When we got the adorable outfit in the mail, Bella saw it and started screaming with excitement!

Isn't the B on the shirt adorable?!
We decided to wear it to church 1st and see how she would like it.  It fit her perfectly & she said she really liked that it was a skirt that she could still run around and play in! The material is well made, and lasted through church, the playground, & the entire 4th of July festivities! Even after she took it off at the end of the night, it still looked perfect!  And seriously, who doesn't love handmade clothes?!

Weekend Wrap Up - 4th of July Edition

Friday morning Bella had her 4th of July parade at school.  I had to work, but Daddy, Grandma, & Grandpa were all able to make it and took tons of pictures & video of her.  She looked adorable!
Bella stayed at Grandma's Friday night, and I had my Girl's Night In.  We had so much fun catching up & just laughing the night away! The guys all met up for dinner & drinks while we had our girl's night.  It was such a fun evening & I can't wait for the next one!

Me, Jess, Monica, Sandra, Amanda, & Justine @ Girl's Night
Saturday we spent the entire day car shopping in 102 degree weather.  We found my car and by the time we were ready to sign everything, Bella was exhausted and starving, so we are going today to sign the papers & get my new car! We did get to take it home & have been loving it since.  By that night we were all exhausted, so we ended up in bed by 9 p.m. and Bella actually slept until 8 a.m. Sunday morning! I had to actually wake her & Daddy up to get ready for church.  Shocking!

After church we relaxed a little before going to Aunt Sandra & Uncle Mark's (Eric's Sister & BIL) house.  We decided to celebrate Independence Day Sunday since no one had to work Monday and we wouldn't be rushing to get home early.  We went swimming & Bella made a friend at the pool named Alex.  They played the entire time together.  Afterwards, we came back to their house where we had dinner on the patio and enjoyed the evening outside.  It was perfect!

Sandra & me at the Sonoma Pool
Monday was cleaning day.  We cleaned our house completely including fans, changing out the air filters, etc.  We bbq'd hamburgers & made fries for dinner, and spent the day just the 3 of us relaxing & celebrating America's birthday!  We hope everyone had a perfect 4th of July weekend!!
