Disney's Brave in Theaters Now

June 22, 2012

My family & I had the pleasure of going to see Brave this week. I was a little nervous for Bella to go because it's rated PG instead go G & because we went to a 7:30 p.m. showing and Bella goes to sleep at 8! Well she watched the whole movie & loved every minute of it! It is in 3D & I thought it was a great family movie!

SYNOPSIS:
Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late. Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and produced by Katherine Sarafian, “Brave” is a grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters and the signature Pixar humor enjoyed by audiences of all ages. The film takes aim at theaters on June 22, 2012, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

Friday Loves - Dresses

June 21, 2012

I am doing Friday loves a day early because tomorrow I will be posting about the new Disney movie Brave!!

This summer I have to go to a company party for my husband & a wedding. I am trying desperately to find a cute dress that will work for both occasions, which is somewhat hard since they are in August & it's going to be around 110 degrees out. Here's my favorite so far:

Tiered Peony Chiffon Party Dress

This is so cute & I love the color for both occasions. The only worry I have is how short this dress might actually be in person.

So far this seems to be the winner. It's from J Crew, long enough and with some cute jewelry and heels I think this could work for both places!

Strapless Lace Dress

This one looks super cute & not too uncomfortable... only question is what color shoes?!

Happy Friday Peeps!

Weekend Wrap Up Crawl Style

June 19, 2012

Yep I've gotten pretty awesome at posting about our weekend on Tuesday instead of Monday's lately... so why stop now?!

Saturday we had our annual Crawl for Cancer here in Austin.  This made the 5th year to crawl & it has to be one of the best years we had! We ended up having 7 teams crawling which equalled around 80 people total that we knew. It was an amazingly fun time & all for such a great cause! Here's some of our awesome pictures... enjoy!

The reason we crawl... my mom, Melissa's Dad, Eddy's Mom are in memory of.  Sonia's uncle is under survivors!

Love these people!!
Eddy, Vicky, Monica, me, Jessika, & Lisa

So too many girls to name, but the girls from both teams we crawled with... crazy times!

The Hubs & I celebrating our 5th Crawl for Cancer

On Sunday Bella & I took The Hubs to Chuys for a Father's Day brunch, then came home to watch the US Open on tv. (Where I ended up falling asleep because golf is just so fascinating!) For dinner we met his family at Longhorn Steakhouse to celebrate his birthday & Father's Day. Such a fun weekend with amazing friends & family!

Happy Father's Day!!

June 17, 2012

Being raised by the best Dad really taught me what to look for in a husband. Someone whose kind, loving, happy, and knows that it doesn't matter how much money you make, it's how much time you spend with your children that they will remember.

So on this Father's Day, there are 3 men I would like to personally thank & say Happy Father's Day to:

1) My Daddy

Daddy, you are one of the best men I have ever known. You are so strong & resilient and you taught me the same qualities now that I am a mom. I love you & thank you more than words could ever say! I'm sorry we can't be up there to celebrate this weekend with you, but I can't wait to get there soon to celebrate your birthday! Thank you for teaching me unconditional love.
Love you!!

2) Dad (Eric's Dad)

Dad, I am so blessed to be married into your wonderful & loving family. You treat me like your own daughter & for that I am forever grateful. You raised such a wonderful son that has grown into an awesome father. Thank you for everything you do for us!

3)The Hubs

Eric, wow can you believe this is your 6th Father's Day?! You are such a perfect dad to Bella & I am so thankful that God gave me you as my soulmate. You are so loving, caring, thoughtful, & I love when you and Bella dance around the living room trying to make me laugh! I cherish every moment we spend together. Bella & I love you more than you'll ever know.

So to all the Dad's out there, I wish you all a fabulous Father's Day!

Friday Loves: Mascara Edition

June 15, 2012

Me & my love for everything makeup.  Especially mascaras. I love finding an awesome new mascara & it actually working on my eyelashes!  I have somewhat long eyelashes but the downside being they fall out often due to me also loving waterproof mascara... dangit!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara

This is my newest obsession. I love all Tarte Amazonian Clay line. I also have their bronze eyeliner from the line and use it often, but that's for another post. This mascara claims to hydrate and repair your lashes. Well that sold me quickly! I bought it and fell in love. This is definitely my everyday type mascara. It does make my lashes look longer (not fuller) and they have gotten much healthier since using this.  It is not a waterproof mascara, but it is an awesome mascara!

First off, they never actually say this is a waterproof mascara, but so far it's definitely felt & acted like one. I wore this on the lake & had no smearing at all. I love love love this mascara for the sheer fact that it plumps up my lashes & stays on all day without smudging or flaking. The one downfall.... it's hard as crap to get off! Even with eye makeup remover, which is insane, but I still love it!

So this one I haven't tried yet, but my bestie claims it's one of the best mascaras she's ever tried. So now this is on my list to buy next time I run out. The one thing I like about this... it comes in washable or waterproof.  Smart smart people at Maybelline!!

So Proud...

June 14, 2012

On Tuesday, Bella asked if she could help make dinner. Now let me preface this story by saying she almost always asks if she can help make dinner, but by the time I start making dinner she is so caught up on her Macbook or in her show, she forgets she wanted to help...

So on Tuesday she came over when I was starting to cook & asked to help. Which either means A) There was nothing good on TV or B) Her computer died. I was making Arroz con Gandules (Puerto Rican rice & beans) which is hers and The Hubs favorite. I said no problem, grabbed her a chair, and we started cooking together.

She actually did almost everything (notice the stove is actually OFF & now really looking at the pic, also very dirty...). I gave her each ingredient and she poured them in, stirred, etc. Once I had to turn the heat on, Mommy took over. I was shocked because she was so excited she helped cook dinner. Every night since she has helped Momma cook & I couldn't be more happy.  I LOVE to cook (especially Puerto Rican food!) & I am hoping I passed that gene down to Bella!

Weekend Wrap Up Tuesday Style

June 12, 2012

This weekend was an absolute crazy, fun, & exhausting weekend! We went to Dallas to my hometown to visit one of my best friends, Kaylor & her fiance.  We didn't make it in until close to 10 p.m. & decided to grab some drinks at a nearby restaurant. It was so much fun to catch up with them & see their new house. (Which is beautiful btw!)

Saturday we were all exhausted & made it out to the lake a wee bit later than planned. Once we got there we met up with a bunch of their friends at the "Party Cove" & got to meet a ton of really nice people that welcomed us! It was the best day just relaxing on their boats & soaking up the sun!

Sunday we headed back, grabbed Bella, & ran a few errands. Eric grilled some pork chops, let Bella play in the sprinklers, then we had family game night with the Wii. We played baseball, bowling, tennis, etc. So much fun on a Sunday evening! Overall a wonderful weekend!

Eric & Crazy Bella during Wii Game Night

Now we are gearing up for our Annual Crawl for Cancer this Saturday! Have a wonderful week!

Friday Loves - Wine Edition

June 8, 2012

I admit it, I am a wino. I love having a nice glass of wine with dinner, or sharing a bottle with a friend while catching up. Eric & I will usually sit down with a glass on Friday nights and go over the weekend's to-do's. I am definitely a white fruity type wine girl, but there are a few reds that I love as well.  Here's my Friday Loves Wine Edition...

Robert Mondavi Riesling

Riesling is my all time favorite type of wine. It's sweet but not too sweet & still refreshing. Robert Mondavi makes an excellent Riesling that I tend to buy often...

Also made by Robert Mondavi wineries is the Woodbridge Moscato. My group of girls are in love with Moscato because it's sweet enough to drink with dessert all while laughing about what's going on in our lives at the moment.

I've posted a few times about Flip Flop wines & they are still one of my very favorite wines. They are extremely inexpensive (around $8 per bottle) & every purchase they donate to Soles 4 Soules! Perfection...

Yes, yes it is a boxed wine.... but it's seriously one of the best boxed wines I've ever had. It retails for around $18 a box & is just delicious!! If you love Riesling, try this! It's available at your HEB!
