Best of the Best Part 3: Eyes

November 29, 2013

Happy Black Friday! Are y'all stuffed to the max from eating your weight in food yesterday like I did?! Just me?! I am not one for getting out in the craziness and trying to find deals the day after Thanksgiving, I'd much rather sit on my computer and shop online picking out things without fighting for them & mauling people over a Ferbee.
Anyway, here are my absolute wish I had products for your eyes. Best of the Best...

Eyeshadow:
This is brand new and already sold out. Seriously sold out in a day!! A DAY!!! Naked 3 Palette is so perfect with the pink shimmery tones throughout. Perfect for daytime or a special night out!

Eyeshadow Primer:
This one isn't too expensive but it works magic. Mac Prep and Prime is great for making sure your eyeshadow stays all day without creasing or having sparkle under your eyes.

Liquid Liner:
I love a good liquid eyeliner pen. Super easy for the cat eyes, great for beginners, and stays put. Diorliner looks amazing and has great staying power. Plus a gorgeous brown color perfect for my green eyes!

Pencil Liner:
Yves Saint Laurent Dessin Du Regard Waterproof (whew that's a mouthful!) has some gorgeous colors and a waterproof pencil is Heaven to this girl!

Mascara:
I'm a huge huge huge mascara junkie. I never stick to one brand of mascara for long & always love any that can make my lashes look thicker & longer without the whole spider effect. That's just what this Tom Ford Extreme Mascara does. It is amazing mascara & it really works!

November 28, 2013

Today is a time where we get together with family, eat a ton of food, be thankful for what we have, drink some wine, & watch the Horns kick the crap out of Tech!

It's a lovely time in our house & I hope it's a wonderful time in yours as well so from my family to yours...

Frozen in Theaters Now!

November 27, 2013

After watching the commercials for Disney's Frozen, my family was able to go to an early screening of it! We decided not to tell Bella until we were pulling up to the theater & she was so excited!

Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind “Tangled” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” presents “ Frozen,” a stunning big-screen comedy adventure. Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey-teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven-to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf (voice of Josh Gad), Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.

The film is directed by Chris Buck (“Tarzan,” “Surf's Up”) and Jennifer Lee (screenwriter, “Wreck-It Ralph”), who also wrote the screenplay. It is produced by Peter Del Vecho (“Winnie the Pooh,” “The Princess and the Frog”). Featuring original songs from Tony® winner Robert Lopez (“The Book of Mormon,” “Avenue Q”) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (“In Transit,” “Winnie the Pooh”), and an original score by Christophe Beck (“The Muppets,” Oscar®-winning short “Paperman”), “Frozen” hits theaters in 3D on Nov. 27, 2013.

Such a cute animated movie for the whole family this holiday season! Definitely a must see!

Best of the Best Series Part 2

November 22, 2013

This round is all about makeup for the face (eye makeup coming up soon!)
& what I wish I could own. In all reality I'm mostly a drug store makeup girl, and love finding good dupes for high end products. Yet something in me wishes I could afford the extreme high end products just once to see if there really is a difference. Don't get me wrong I love my Nars, The Balm, etc. but like seriously high end, that's the dream.

Foundation:
I've been dying to try this forever because I've only heard good things about it. Dior Airflash is apparently so good it looks like you airbrushed your makeup. And best part is it lasts all day long!

Powder:
Laura Mercier Loose Powder is my go to for high end finishing powder. People this is made with cashmere talc!! Cashmere talc!! I've never even heard of that and yet it sounds amazeballs!

Concealer:
I really am a die hard Bobbi Brown fan & love most everything she makes. Including her Concealer Kit. This comes in 14 different options with 2 shades in each. It blends easily and covers dark spots & brightens dark circles.

Bronzer:
I mentioned this before on my blog, but I am dying to try Soleil Tan De Chanel. It's a cream bronzer, which I've never tried, but it looks amazing & goes on smoothly and flawlessly!

Blush:
Another one I've lusted over for years and haven't brought myself to shell out the $$ for yet... Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick. For blush I'd get the pink quartz, but they also have a bronzer one I'd love to try too!

Hi Di Ho Neighbor

November 19, 2013

I want to take the day off from talking about makeup & hair products and talk about the importance of awesome neighbors. We've always been very stick to ourselves type people when it came to meeting and talking to our neighbors. Sure we'd wave as they drove past, maybe talk about the weather once in a while, but never really tried to be friends with any... until we moved in to our neighborhood now.

See we moved in over 4 years ago before any of our said neighbors actually lived there. The old cat lady next door to us once said when she was moving out that she only hopes we're nicer to the new neighbors than we ever were to her... haha! I died laughing & told her no worries, we will be! When the new neighbors moved in & their son was in Bella's kinder class, it was like something just clicked and we started getting to know them. Then we found out another kid in her class lived across the street from us & they quickly became friends too. Now there is 6 families that spend pretty much every Friday and Saturday night sitting out front, drinking beers, & letting the kids wear themselves out.

These girls are there for me no matter what and vice versa. Sick kids, new babies, surgeries, vacations, etc. they will bring you food, watch your kids, anything to help out when needed!

They are a blast to hang out with, always laughing & never a dull moment.

And I might say we have the cutest kids ever! They all get along great & love spending every waking minute running around chasing each other. Makes for the best time!

We've looked at moving over the years, but always decide against it because of all of our neighbors. KJo & Josh, Kellie Kellie & Peter, Sarah & Derek, Melissa (still a neighbor just further away!), KFlo & Dez, and Tasha & Parker (PVille neighbors!) they are all amazing and we are blessed to live so close to them!

Weekend Wrap Up

November 18, 2013

This weekend was a lot of fun & family time. Friday Bella had a field trip with her class & thank goodness Sarah was there & could take this amazing picture of our kids being their normal selves...

Oh yeah that's Bella & Tanner at their finest! It was pretty chilly that day so they got into their best sweats for a picnic.  The chilly weather did not last as it was in the high 80's all weekend... mid November is no where in sight...

Friday night Grandma & Grandpa took Bella to her school science fair & she was in Heaven. She loved every bit of it & looked like the perfect scientist.
She came home Saturday morning telling us all about it!

Saturday night we had all the neighbors over to watch the sham that is the UFC. I'll be completely honest, I was rooting for GSP, but I don't think he won by a long shot & apparently neither does the president of the UFC... good time to retire I say!

Sunday we cleaned, Eric fixed our insane freezer that decided it wasn't going to make ice anymore. Only took him all afternoon, but when we woke up this morning alas there was glorius ice in our water. Hallelujah!
Oh and we made home made pizza last night...

Yeah that's my beautifully cleaned daughter begging her Dad for pepperoni. Because who needs some on their pizza when their mouth is this close already?!

Happy Monday!

The Best of the Best Part 1

November 15, 2013

I decided to start a series called the Best of the Best. This week will be all about hair products that even though they're crazy stupid expensive, really do work & are the best products you can get. Here's my absolute, wish I could afford all the time, favorite products.

Shampoo & Conditioner:
This one is so easy for me to pick... Pureology. There are so many different types of shampoos & conditioners they offer to fit any and every single hair type out there. It smells wonderful and works like magic. Whenever I'm lucky enough to get Pureology, (because they typically run $30 per bottle or so!!) I can immediately tell a difference in my hair. It's softer, shinier, easier to curl/flat iron & overall just so much healthier.

Leave In Conditioner:
Don't kill me, but it's also Pureology. I blogged about wanting this before and got it and am in love with it! It's Color Fanatic Hair Treatment Spray & it's amaze-balls!  I only have to put around 3 spritzs in my towel dried hair & it works it's magic. Nothing else comes close to compare.

Hairspray:
I have never ever bought this because the thought of spending around $25 on hairspray for my fly aways scares the crap out of me, but if you're a die hard hairspray person, this is definitely a must. Kenra 25 Volume Hairspray.

Deep Conditioner:
I'm a sucker for a good deep conditioner. With all the heat, highlights, etc I do to my hair, anything that can help it is a plus in my book. Keratase Nutridefense is amazing at making straw like hair feel like silk. It's apparently been called the Holy Grail of deep conditioners, which makes it amazing to me!

Shine Serum:
Are you insane about your hair being shiny like I am?! I have to have a great shine serum to finish my hair after I've put it through the ringer every morning. Something that doesn't show how much damage I did to it before leaving the house. Bring in Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. This stuff is impeccable for controlling my fly aways and making my hair look shiny but not greasy. Perfect last thing to put on my hair. And honestly not too expensive either. Yay!

Winter Must Haves

November 14, 2013

I saw this on Lauren Elizabeth blog this morning and thought it was a great idea. Now she lives in Chicago which is obviously much much colder than Austin any day, but since we woke up to freezing weather today (technically it was 34 degrees this morning! Saturday it's gonna be in the 80's again...) I thought it was the absolute perfect time to post my winter must haves.

Good Gloves - I like the kind that you can use with your IPhone and not kill yourself trying to get them on and off the whole time. These seem perfect for that.

Boots - You can't go wrong with a good warm pair of cute boots. Of course I love me some Uggs even if The Hubs says they are uglier than sin.

Chapstick - I live on this stuff 24/7 no matter what season, but in the winter I have multiple in my handbag, at my desk, at home, etc. I can't live without it.

Lotion - Oh there is only 1 lotion I use in the Fall/Winter and that's Gold Bond. It's thick, smells great, and lasts forever. Definitely my go to for any and all lotion.

Beanie - I think they are called different things in different parts of the US, but here we call them beanies. And they have to be cute & super warm and comfy for me to wear them!

Christmas Gift Ideas

November 13, 2013

As Bella gets older the gifts to get her get more and more hard to find. She's not into Barbie's, dolls, etc. more into bikes, basketball, and apparently wants to try her hand at football in the Spring. Yeah I really had a tomboy (a girl after my own heart!) so finding the perfect Christmas gifts is a little tough. Here's 3 things I think she might be getting... hopefully!

New Bike

The bike she rides now is a wee bit small for her. She learned how to ride without training wheels (in 1 day I might add!) and now she absolutely loves to ride her bike. It definitely time for a new one!

She loves loves loves this movie, and when she sees it in her stocking Christmas morning she is going to be so excited!

She saw this on TV & said she just had to have it. Shocking since she lives on her IPad now. I can only imagine what would happen if she got this as well...

Race For the Cure 2013

November 11, 2013

I have done Race for the Cure for Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research for the past 7 years straight. When I found out I wouldn't be able to run/walk it this year I was crushed. Eric & I have done this together each year, but he was sweet enough to run it for me this year.

Bella wanted to participate so we agreed all 3 of us would go and her & I could cheer The Hubs on while he did the timed race. It was perfect weather & The Hubs did amazing (he clocked in officially 24 min 32 seconds!) Here's some pics from the race!

We've done this race in memory of my mom who was a breast cancer survivor.

You like my awesome photography skills here?!

Thank you to The Hubs for running this race even though I wasn't able to!
 Love you!

1st Work Out Review

November 10, 2013

Remember how I said I was gonna take it easy on my 1st workout and just get on the bike?! Yeah that went out the window when I got to the gym. Damn me, it was like coming home. I went straight to the weights and decided I could do the same weight on the machines I did 6 weeks ago! Not so much, but I tried!
So let's be honest here, I did about 20 minutes of weights until my throat started swelling letting me know I need to stop or die trying. I chose option A.
I filled up my water bottle for the 2nd time and went to the bike. I usually go around an 8 out of 10 in resistance for about 30 minutes or so. (Usually 6-7 miles) I was already on my death bed, so I decided to take it a little easy and go on a 6 resistance. I made it 6.5 miles in 30 minutes and gave up. I was only gonna go for 5 miles, but once I hit that I thought I could do a wee bit more. Wee bit is right, a whole mile and a half more and I was dunzo for the day. I finished by stretching & having a protein shake once I got home.
Today is day 1 after working out... here are my thoughts:
1) I can't walk. It hurts to sit down, stand up, and going up my staircase at home is about the most painful thing I can think of.
2) I am extremely proud of myself that I pushed so hard. You really can do anything you put your mind to.
3) I honestly can't wait to go back Tuesday for round 2!
And The Hubs and I are starting to "eat clean". No processed foods, only whole grains, chicken, fish, fruits, & veggies... Lord help me! I truly am excited to try and loose weight through the holidays instead of gain it like I usually do!
I'll keep everyone updated as we go on. Next week we plan on getting a juicer & start juicing for breakfasts!

Motivation

November 8, 2013

This is a super late day post today, but I just remembered I get to start back at the gym tomorrow morning! It's been well over 6 weeks since I've had the energy to get up, go to the gym, work out for an hour, and get back home. Before the surgery it was hard to go to work every morning, let alone try to work out afterwards.

I'm 2 1/2 weeks out of surgery and my scar is finally starting to really heal and not look like I tried to hurt myself, and I can move my neck again, so I figured it was time to get my fat ass off the couch and back to the gym.

Is it gonna be hard? YES
Am I going to hate every minute of it? YES!!!
Am I gonna be sore the next day? OMG I probably won't be able to move haha!
Will it be worth it? Ummm YEAH!

I honestly can't wait to get back into normalcy of my life again including going back to the gym.

My Little Secret

November 6, 2013

I hate it when I get that once a month breakout on my face. I've never had horrible acne thank goodness, but there's always one that shows up on my chin & I know it's a mixture of touching my face all day when I'm at work and hormones. So right when I notice I'm about to get one I reach for this..

Burts Bees Blemish Stick

I love it (except for the smell which is dreadful but fades away fast!) It's all natural but really works fast to help the blemish dissapear! Along with The Hubs we run out of this stuff every few months and always go back for more. I've tried many MANY different things and none compare to this. Love!

Loving

November 5, 2013

I've actually used this product for years but never mentioned it for some weird reason. I always try to find this exact color in a waterproof version but have yet to find one I love as much as this...

Almay Intense I-Color in Bronze Topaz

It's supposed to be for blue eyes, and yes I have green, but it looks amazing on my eyelids! I adore this damn eyeliner so much I've gone through 3 of them in the last year or so! Ah-freaking-mazing!

So I Got to Finally Go Out

November 4, 2013

And had a great time with friends! It was my 1st time out in quite a while, so we took it pretty easy and ended up coming home around 10:00 p.m. I don't know if it's cause we're old now or just starting to slowly move back into hanging out again, but we were both exhausted and ready for bed by 9:45! I'm thinking it's the old part...
