Eric and I have always had one thing in common...
We both love to travel.
When we 1st started dating, we talking about traveling everywhere.
Both of us were lucky as kids that our parents took us everywhere.
My 1st plane ride was at 5 years old to NYC & he's been to most of the US.
We've definitely passed the travel bug onto Bella, because she asks all the time when we're going on another vacation.
In a little over a month we'll be traveling to one of our favorite vacation spots... South Padre Island. Or for our fellow Texans, SPI!
I've blogged about going there numerous times & we seriously all 3 look forward to it every year.
It's a total family vacation with all of Eric's family where we lounge around,
soak up the sun all day long,
grill during the evenings
let the kids run wild most of the night until they wear themselves out.
One night Eric & I will go with our brother & sister in law and have an adult night out which honestly ends up being the best time!
There's just something about vacations that we can't get enough of.
The sand, the sun, the not having to work all week, it all is amazing!
So here's to days we'll always remember,
Nights we'll never forget,
And vacays that last a lifetime in our memories!

This week Bella had a homework assignment that made us actually get together and figure it out as a family. Don't get me wrong, Eric & I love helping her with regular every day homework, but this was a little bit different...
She had to make a 3D model of an animal.
The animal she got was a Jaguar.
Apparently, most kids made their animals out of clay, but we didn't think like that.
Nope, the 3 of us put our minds together and came up with this.
Oh yeah 3D jaguar in all it's glory!
We started with a large coffee can, and stuffed the tail.
Then made the legs out of paper towel rolls.
It took FOREVER.
But she loves it & was told it was very innovative!
We're so proud and she is showing it at school today.
Sometimes, I forget how hard it is to be in school these days.
With the STAAR testing next year, and everything she has due,
I have to remind myself to slow down and enjoy these times we have together.
They are fleeting.

I always love updating the blog about my little girl & showing some pride on whatever she is currently achieving. Today is no exception...
Bella started karate in January because she loves any and all sports & this is one she hadn't tried and was dying to try. (Her words exactly.)
She has already moved up to a yellow belt & is working her way to orange.
On Monday she had an amazing class. She got up infront of everyone to say the creed ALONE.
She was amazing & was so proud she was able to do it!
During class Master Crow would say things to her class that they need to be as loud as her or work as hard as she is. I kept giving her a thumbs up because I knew how happy she was that she is doing so well.
Then it happened.
After class Master Crow asked her to stay over.
I got a little worried she did something wrong but he took her to the side for a few minutes.
When she came back she told me he asked if she would be interested in trying out for the black belt school!!
We cheered so much and I was so proud of that little girl!!
Every parent thinks their kid is awesome, but when someone else does, it just makes everything better.

This weekend we got to go see our beloved Horns play their Orange & White scrimmage game. Grandpa joined us & we all had a blast. The weather held off & was perfect! Not too hot at all, which is a 1st for us!
Bella thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience & loves that we go every year to it. She even got herself a new Horns shirt to sport this coming football season!
In other exciting (non-exciting) news, we ended up purchasing a new king sized mattress for our room. We've had a Tempurpedic for years and decided it was finally time to invest in a new one. We also moved the queen bed from the guest room to Bella's room. Lucky girl!
She actually ends up sleeping on it in the guest room every night so we figured it was time to move it into her room. Now our poor guests will be sleeping on a full! Oops!
That was our exciting weekend!
Hope y'all had a great one too & Happy Monday.

Is anyone out there half as excited as I am for Lilly Pulitzer at Target?
It comes out 1st thing Sunday morning & you can believe my happy butt will be there grabbing as much as possible.
These are my favorites, but the pineapple flip flops are by far my absolute favorite of the bunch!
I am obsessed with them!
Everything in her collection is insanely cute & very summery!
Perfect for beach, summer wedding, etc.

Best Drugstore Blush Blush Dream Bouncy Blush Drugstore Edition Elf St Lucia NYX Blush Physicians Formula Physicians Formula Bronzer

I am crazy in love with blushes.
I have bought the crazy expensive ones, but honestly, my favorites are all drugstore.
I seriously own every one of these and use them quite often!
NYX Baked Blush in Foreplay - This is my newest obsession. For some reason I can't find it on the NYX website, but I found it at my local CVS & online at Ulta. It's so awesome. Great color payout, beautiful shade (perfect for Spring & Summer) and blends amazingly!
Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Rose Petal - This is my go to blush for beach days. I love a cream blush at the beach because it stays on much longer. I get the lightest color they have to make it look more natural and sun kissed.
Physicians Formula Happy Booster in Natural - I love all the different mixes of color to make one beautiful and gorgeous blended blush. I love all things Physicians Formula and this is definitely one of my favorites.
Elf Blush/Bronzer Combo in St. Lucia - This is something I have bought over and over. I love the blush, the bronzer is a little too warm for me, but it works better when I'm tanned. Either way, it's literally $3!! And it is awesome!!
Make sure and check out my favorite drugstore bronzers, just in time for Spring!

Due to being deadly sick last weekend (thank goodness that's gone!) we ended up celebrating Easter with Eric's family yesterday.
We ended up watching The Masters (Go Jordan!!) and having a delicious dinner with everyone before letting the kiddos Easter Egg hunt.
This is right before we left. Bella actually let me do her hair & wore a dress!
That's definitely a picture taking time in our house!
Grandma got her these bubbles that aren't supposed to pop with those gloves on.
Every single one ended up popping right when she touched them and being it was in the mid 80's outside she only had those glove on for a mere 5 minutes.
Bella & her cousin Olivia after their Easter egg hunt!
They're both getting too big way too quickly!
In other weekend news, Eric & I actually had a date night!
And by date night, I mean that we went for sushi & came home and watched TV.
It was still awesome in our book.

I was the kind of kid who was scared of everything and everyone until I got to 3rd grade. For some reason all fears went out the window.
I was the kind of kid who was scared to death of any man with facial hair. Especially beards... and I grew up in the 80's. I was screwed.
I was the kind of kid who thought I was an awesome cheerleader in elementary school up until I didn't get on the team for a 2nd year and ended up on the dance team instead as a captain. I still call that a win.
I was the kind of kid who had short, extremely curly hair (aka permed) in middle school with braces AND glasses. Oh yeah those 3 years were hell for me.
I was the kind of kid who went to the same elementary, middle, & high school and never moved once. I actually never moved until the day after I turned 18. Seriously.
I was the kind of kid who loved growing up. I had a great childhood & loved every minute of it.

Hello, my name is Summer & apparently I'm old and outdated...
At least that's what my 8 year old daughter told me over the weekend.
We had our weekly Target trip in which we have a complete blast shopping and joking with each other after school.
This past Friday we needed to pick up some sandals for Easter.
I found the cutest pair of sandals & for once in my life she actually agreed with me!
We find her size & try them on... boom they're perfect!
I mention that I wonder if they have them in my size because seriously how cute would it be for us to match?!
And that's when I became old.
She looked at me and said "Ummm... No! Don't embarrass me like that!"
How is matching your cool ass mom embarrassing?!
Apparently I'm not as cool as I thought!
I thought this kinda stuff happened when they became teenagers?!
At least middle school, but 8 years old (2nd grade?!)
I'm not gonna lie it hurt a little, but I got over it...
As you can tell since I'm posting about it a week later!
By the way... here are the said sandals. Flippin adorable!

Here's what I've been dying for lately...
That's it, just sitting her blissfully wishing I was sitting at a beach somewhere with a drink in my hand & sand under my feet.
It's my Heaven.
I've always been a beach girl.
Growing up we never lived close to a beach
(about 9 hours away from the closest beaches in Texas to be exact)
But my parents were amazing and would take us on vacations to different beaches.
I loved it.
And so does Eric & Bella.
We are already looking at cruises for Summer 2016 because we're missing it so much.
I've been buying swimsuits for us like a mad woman just waiting
patiently until we can actually wear them again.
It's been in the mid-80's here, but for this Texan girl that's not warm enough yet...
So I'll just sit here and daydream blissfully about the next time my feet hit the sand.

Want to know what sucks for Easter Weekend?!
Getting the flu.
Oh yeah that's exactly what my weekend consisted of... ALL WEEKEND.
Friday night I felt great. Got home and Bella wanted to play out front so I went out with her to enjoy the beautiful weather we were having. Texted my neighbor to come over and sit with me which ended at 1 a.m. with about 10 more neighbors over having a grand ole' time! (We really do have the best neighbors ever!)
I woke up Saturday morning with what I thought was the absolute worst hangover I've ever had. Except I didn't drink that much, so it wasn't adding up for me. That's when everything hit me at once. Full-on flu.
I had to cancel my girl's lunch (I am so pissed about this!) and Eric ended up taking Bella to our church Easter celebration Saturday afternoon.
Aren't they adorable?! So upset I missed this too, but there's always next year!
(On a side note, we have the BEST CHURCH ever. Gateway Church in Austin is amazing!)
They came back and brought me chicken noodle soup for dinner. I was out by 8 p.m. Woo!
Sunday morning Eric woke me up to remind me the Easter Bunny had come and Bella was starting to wake up. I actually felt somewhat better, so I was able to egg hunt with her.
The Easter Bunny was awesome and brought her an insanely big bunny & camo Easter eggs!
She's in love with anything camo right now & loved the eggs!
So it's Monday morning now & I'm back to normal...
Eric caught the flu last night and is now home sick...
Can't catch a break.

I can't wait for Saturday. Not because I'll be off work, not because I get to sleep in (I don't even know what that means anymore), but because I get to start running again.
A week ago I went for a run knowing my left leg muscle had pulled a little. I still tried to push past the pain up until I felt a pop in my left calf & shooting pain down my leg. Then I was done.
Once I was able to hobble home & elevate my leg, I realized I wouldn't get to run again for a while. And so we're a week later and the pain is finally gone, but Eric is making me wait a few more days to start back running.
Here's the thing... I love my Saturday morning runs.
I love waking up before the rest of my family (and pretty much everyone) and going for a run.
I love being the only one on the road with my headphones in while the sun comes up.
But ultimately, I love being done by 8 a.m. and having the whole day ahead of me.
So here's to Saturday, let's hope this run doesn't end up killing me!
