Is It Friday Yet?!

January 28, 2016

Yeah yeah I know it's only Thursday and we still have another day before the weekend hits,
but can we just skip to 4 p.m. tomorrow so I can start my weekend?!

It's an odd weekend for us in that we are childless Friday AND Saturday night!
Like seriously, we don't know what to do with ourselves.

Friday night Bella has a party at her karate school.
We were iffy about letting her go since she just got her cast off,
but she was way too excited for us to say no.
What might we do for 4 hours you ask?
No earthly idea!
I'm sure some sushi & wine will inevitably be involved.
And it shall be joyous.

Don't get me wrong, we love spending time with Bella,
and we have spent the last, oh I don't know, 10 weekends together,
but we all 3 are good with a break.
Plus she's coming home Friday night with us,
so it's a win-win in my book.

Saturday we have my nephew's 1st birthday party,
then she is going home with Grandma & Grandpa for the night.
They've been insanely busy lately & Bella is so excited to see them again.
As for our insane plans... we we don't have anything set in stone... YET!
We do know we're going out with some of our favorite people
and I'm sure wine, beer, & food of some sort will be involved.
And it shall be joyous.

Now if Thursday afternoon & Friday morning could hurry up,
that would be great...

Dear Bella

January 26, 2016

Happy 9th birthday Sweet Girl!
Your Dad & I are so insanely proud of you!

I feel like in the past year you've changed so much it's hard to grasp.
You not only grew in strength and spirit,
but also in outwards ways.
You grew like crazy this year
and everyone took notice how tall you are!

You also showed how big of a heart you have.
You have such a diverse group of friends and try to include everyone.
You make people smile and laugh like crazy!
(You get that from your dad! Y'all are both silly!)
And yet you're still my little girl who loves to cuddle
and begs for Mommy when you don't feel well.

I know this past month has been hard on you,
with your cast which I'm so happy came off yesterday!
Just know that you are amazingly tough &
showed your strength and courage to everyone!
I've never been more proud of you then I have this past month.

I promise your birthday party will everything you've dreamed of
now that you are all healed!
God definitely watched over you and made sure you would be ready to celebrate turning 9!

More than anything just know that your dad & I love and support you
with any endeavors you choose.

Please always keep the faith and joy you have now with you.
It's truly one of the things I admire most about you.

Love you Sweet Girl,
Happy 9th Birthday!

Weekend Wrap Up

January 25, 2016

1st off....

I'm definitely part of the blue in the diagram above!

Other than celebrating the team that beat the Patriots last night, the weekend was pretty low key.
Friday night I went for a run because it was long overdue, then got Bella and we hung out until Daddy came home from work with dinner.

Saturday Eric had a 12 mile run & I did 6 miles with Kellie in the morning,
then decided to surprise Bella and give her birthdays gifts early.
She was pretty surprised and extremely happy!

One of my besties, Sonia and her boyfriend came over Saturday night.
Andy & Bella love playing video games together, so the guys & Bella ended up playing soccer on PS4 most of the night.
It was great catching up over wine with Sonia while they played!
Bella had the best time!

Sunday we did a little shopping before watching both football games.
I am extremely happy about who will be playing in the Super Bowl this year!

We also go to the Pediatric Ortho today to see if Bella can get her cast off.
We're hoping and praying for a yes just in time for her birthday!

Things Every Girl Needs

January 20, 2016

I feel like I've blogged about this before,
but every time I get to go it reminds me how much it's needed.
Yes we all have those girlfriends we can meet up with and talk forever.
These are (most) of mine.

We're missing a few girls, but overall
these girls are some of my girl's night out people.
We all get together and the talk is non-stop.
We laugh like crazy & make tons of plans
we hope to keep, but usually can't.
Even so, we try to get together every few months
for a night away from the husbands & children,
and just relax, catch up, eat some delicious dinner,
and have a few of these...
(That's all of our glasses together ladies, I'm not that big of a wino!)
We had the best time, and unfortunately I was 1st to head home to help with Bella,
I miss those girls and can't wait for the next girl's night!

Extremely Late Weekend Wrap Up

January 19, 2016

Not only am I posting my weekend wrap up on a Tuesday,
but LATE on a Tuesday at that!
Woo!!! Go me!

Our casa had a 3 day weekend due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
I love when this holiday comes around,
because people post his best sayings & I am one of them.

Starting over with Saturday, I did 6 miles with Kellie in the morning,
then I got ready & went shopping with my family.
The guys & Bella went to the UT basketball game,
so Kellie & I made a girl's day of it and did more shopping,
then headed to Texican for some queso & margaritas.
We had the best time & once our families got home,
we all went to Mellow Mushroom.
We had never been & ended up LOVING it!

Holy goodness Batman, look at those pretzels!
And the pizza was phenomenal!

Sunday was a pretty lazy day for us, house cleaning, grocery shopping, blah!
We decided to grill burgers Sunday night & I must say...
I love Sunday nights spent by the fire! Ha!

Monday we ended up running errands for way too long then coming home and relaxing!
It was delightful!

Happy Tuesday!
Only 3 more days until the weekend!

My New Favorite Duo

January 13, 2016

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation

I've fallen in love...
with a foundation & concealer combo.
I've heard nothing but good things about both
so I decided to shell out the money and try them.
And I'm so glad I did!

Both have insanely good coverage but don't feel cakey on my face.
They both seem to last all day long and after 15 hour days, still look good!
I know Makeup Forever just came out with an Ultra HD concealer recently,
and I'll probably end up trying that when the MAC runs out,
but for now I'm hooked on these together.

What's your favorite foundation or concealer?

Weekend Wrap Up

January 11, 2016

This weekend was spent as the ultimate family weekend for us.
Friday night Bella went to her friend's house after school,
then Aunt Sandra, Uncle Mark, Olivia, & Aidan came over to help cheer her up.

Olivia even helped sign her cast!

They were so sweet bringing cupcake & balloon for her to enjoy!
She seems to be collecting both a lot since she got hurt! Ha!

Saturday we took her downtown to the boat show.
Eric & Bella have never been to one before but I grew up going to them every year,
so it was a lot of fun.

Saturday night we took her to the Alamo Draft House to watch Star Wars.

She loved the movie & wants to dress like one of them for Halloween!
It was a great time the 3 of us had together.
I'm actually ending up liking this whole "Star Wars" thing... maybe.

Sunday was pretty quiet for us, just cleaned the house & let Bella have a friend over.
Even though they played for hours she was still hyper by the end of the night!
I told her I don't think the doctor okayed this type of playing with her cast on!
It makes me happy to see this though, it's typical Bella at her finest!

Now it's Monday and work has started back... blah!
Just keep telling myself get through this week because it's a 3 day weekend ahead!
Happy Monday!

Getting Back to Normalcy

January 7, 2016

Lez be honest here...
I had planned to be back to normal by the beginning of this week.
That crap went out the window the day Bella fell off her bike.
This week has been anything but normal!

So I told Eric we shall start normalcy next week!
Nothing like starting to get into the swing of things 2 weeks into the year already!

Our poor baby girl has been napping every afternoon up until dinner time
out of pure exhaustion.
She's NOT a napper by any means!
We also pushed martial arts back for obvious reasons,
but we're hoping by next week she can go back and work on lower body stuff.

I plan on getting back to really running again next week.
I've been running small short runs every other day
to keep up with all the food I've been consuming,
but I need to definitely step it up!

I never make new years resolutions,
and I don't plan on starting this year.
But with that said,
I do hope to keep up what I did in 2015
& work harder, be kinder, and overall a better person.

Let's hope all the above starts next Monday!

Update on Bella

January 6, 2016

Wow 2016 has already decided to kick our butts at home.
Seriously, very little sleep, lots of pain, & feeling helpless has overtaken our house.

If you read my last blog post, you know Bella fractured her elbow Sunday.
She has been in SEVERE pain ever since even after the ER trip,
so we made an appointment with the pediatric ortho yesterday
& she got this...

Full cast shoulder to fingers...

The pain she was in at this point wasn't good at all.
I'm on her other side holding her good hand letting her squeeze mine when it hurt.

And this is her after learning she will be in this cast for at least 3 weeks.
Also meaning we have to push her birthday party back for a month!
She wasn't a happy camper.

When we got home, we propped her up on the couch and within minutes she was asleep.
Eric & I took turns watching her so the other could get a run in.
After she woke up one of her friends Connor & his momma brought her this

They also brought her a get well balloon.
They are too sweet for words!

It definitely helped cheer her up!
So now she's back at school
& the nurse hasn't called yet which is a plus!
Let's pray the rest of 2016 isn't half as crazy!

New Years till Now Recap

January 4, 2016

Oh holy goodness it's been a 2016 already!
New Year's Eve was a blast!
We had some families come over and let the kids shoot fireworks & have massive sparklers
to ring the new year in.

They had the best time & so did the parents!
We stayed up way too late, but had the best time!

She's really starting to look like me huh?!

The weekend was pretty low key,
running, taking Christmas decorations down, etc.
That is until Sunday afternoon...

Eric & Bella decided to go to the park to let her ride her new bike.
I stayed home to rest & next thing I know, she's coming in the house screaming in pain.
She fell off her bike & Eric couldn't get to her in time.
At 1st we thought she just bruised her right elbow, but we were wrong...

Oh yeah she fractured it!
She's in a cast now & we have to see an Ortho this week.

Don't be fooled by the smiles, that's due to the meds they gave her to help her pain.
Last night once we got home was a little rough, but we made it through.

Hopefully, the rest of the week will be much quieter.
Happy Monday...
