What a Weekend

November 19, 2018

This past weekend has been one of the best we have had lately.
We got to celebrate family, friends, and our beloved Longhorns.

We started Saturday off celebrating Thanksgiving early with Eric's family.
It's been a while since we all have been together, and it was great catching up and laughing over lunch!

After we left, we headed downtown to watch the Longhorns vs. Iowa State game.
We haven't been to a football game in years (like 20 but whose counting?!) and it was Belle's 1st game to ever go to! To make it more special, it was Senior night, and the 500th game played at DKR Memorial Stadium.

The weather was perfect, the Longhorns won big,
and we got to see the last game the seniors will play at DKR!
Really an amazing night!

The most amazing part was when they played Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" and the whole crowd lit up their phones and sang along. The music stopped when the game started back up and the crowd kept singing. It was a magical moment!

This picture doesn't do it justice, but seriously Google about it and watch the videos!
We all 3 went home exhausted and beaming with light!

Sunday I got to help host one of my closest friend's baby shower.
If you have been reading my blog for years, you know we do showers a little differently with my friends. We have brunch and pedicures instead of the normal baby shower.
This one didn't disappoint and it was incredible to see Sonia glowing!

Such a fun weekend overall.

I don't think I will get another post out this week,
so I would like to wish everyone a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
I hope everyone gets to celebrate it with family and has a wonderful day.

What a Weekend!

November 5, 2018

This weekend was a whirlwind.

We had a fabulous wedding in Victoria, TX - Belle had one of her last games, and we spent Sunday night relaxing, pitching, and catching up.

Eric and I went to his cousins wedding in South Texas Saturday.

We had such a great time catching up with family!
We got to get all dressed up and dance the night away!
Congrats Ojay & Diana!

Belle stayed with her friend, so she didn't have to miss her game.
It was one of her lasts games, so we let her stay.

She ended up getting her Fall Softball medal.
She was so happy, and they won the game!
We actually watched the whole game and cheered her on from afar.
These girls have made such a great team and are 11-4 for the season,
with 1 game left to go.

Seriously, I don't know what we will do without softball every night and weekend.
We will miss these girls (especially Belle, who is already missing them)
and am so excited for the Spring season!

After we picked Belle up Sunday, we immediately went and practiced pitching.
She really is working her tail off at getting better.
And you can tell. She has more confidence, and takes her time between pitches.
Plus getting faster and more accurate!
We are truly proud of her.

Tomorrow is her team's last game of the season.
To say we are sad to see it end is an understatement.
But we will take this season and remember it with joy!

Hello November

November 1, 2018

I know my name and blog name are both related to the summer time,
but we are actually in my absolute favorite season.

I love Autumn!
I love the changing of the trees,
that special feeling that Christmas is coming soon,
spending more time with family, and overall, the weather!

We have some of the best Falls in Austin!
The weather stays in the 60's, and usually (hopefully!) is sunny!

Belle and I both enjoy the changing of the trees,
the falling of the leaves, and she loves jumping in a leaf pile, right after Daddy makes it!

I could go on and on,
but I welcome November with open arms.
I can't wait to get into the Thanksgiving and Christmas Spirit at our house!

Soapbox

October 29, 2018

I have never done this before on my blog,
but today I am going to step up on my soapbox for a moment.
I'm not one to complain or get upset too often here,
but today I am.

This past weekend our girls has a REC softball tournament in town.
They played tough and beat some really good teams,
but the game we played Sunday morning was torture.
These girl SCREAMED at my daughter while she pitched,
trying to throw her off.
They made fun of our girl's walk up songs,
literally just tore our team apart.
Our girls have NEVER acted this way towards any team.

Trust me, I get that it's a competitive sport,
but to blatantly act like that to 11 & 12 year old girls
is downright pitiful.
The umps did nothing about it,
but when our girls even tried to start a chant,
they sure halted us calling it unsportsmanlike!
My daughter,
God Bless her, was in tears!!
She literally was a bundle of nerves.
She felt like she was going to get sick,
she was so upset.

I am sorry,
but if you have to act like that to win a game,
you don't deserve to be playing
this amazing sport!

Softball teaches girls to become family,
that each teammate of theirs is their sister.
That they treat EVERYONE with respect.
And above all,
to become a better person inside and out.
I pray for the team we played,
that one day they realize how horrible
they treat opposing teams,
and learn to be better players.

And now I am stepping off my soapbox.

Oh What a Weekend!

October 22, 2018

First off, we had an actual day of SUNLIGHT!
Seriously, on Sunday it was beautiful and in the mid 60's!
And our girls got to play a game!
We went out to Lake Travis to play,
and on our way I took a few pictures of the dam and flooding...

This is the first time in over 20 years of living in Austin,
I got to see the dam actually open!

We ended up winning the game,
and the girls did amazing like always!

On the way home, I took the view from the river...

Never seen it so high before.
It's amazing to look at!

Other than the game,
we did go watch Goosebumps 2 which was adorable.
We also had some of her friends meet
Saturday afternoon at a new bounce place.
They all had fun and were exhausted afterwards.
Score one for the parents!

Overall a great and beautiful weekend.
Now onto next weekend
and another tournament!

Letter to My Pitcher... My Daughter

October 19, 2018

I saw this Open Letter today online,
and thought,
I totally need to do this for my daughter,
in my own words.

To my Daughter & Favorite Pitcher:

First and most importantly,
I love you with my whole heart,
whether you pitch or not,
have a great game or not,
I am here,
I am proud of you,
and above all
I love you.

I know you try your hardest to be a great pitcher,
working nightly on your movements,
getting faster,
stronger,
and you literally put your
sweat and tears into this game.

I know that it frustrates you
when you see girls trying to pitch
thinking it looks easy,
what they don't know is
that you pitch every single day.
When they get a day off,
you are on the side of the house,
closest field,
even a parking lot,
pitching 75-100 balls.

But know that they try because of you.
You and your teammates that pitch,
make it look easy.
You make it look like anyone can do it,
but you know that it's not true.

And when you have a bad game,
I know you look over at me,
and I am there to reassure you,
that you are doing great and to keep going.
I along with you have had to learn
to remain calm and positive,
and just have fun.

My favorite thing in this world
is watching you play.
And I promise to always be there,
cheering you on silently
while you are on that mound.
I promise to smile and give a thumbs up
when you throw a ball.

And when you are done for the day,
I promise to give you a huge hug,
tell you how amazing you played,
and get you ice cream on the way home.

Because one day,
I know these games will be in the past.
You will go home with your friends,
not me and your Dad.
You will be more into boys and makeup
than softball,
and although I hope it never comes,
you will be done with pitching.

Until then,
I will be the one playing your walkup music,
cheering every strike,
every hit you make,
knowing how hard you have worked
to be where you are.

Love,

Momma

Yep It Did

October 15, 2018

I mentioned on Friday that we were supposed to get a cold front this weekend,
and this morning we sure did!
Yesterday's high was 94, today we are in the 40's and dropping!
Plus MORE RAIN!!!

Moving on...

This weekend we spent the whole time at the ball fields.
Belle's team was in a tournament,
and ended up getting 4th place!
Those girls played their hearts out,
and showed teams who they really are.

Belle pitched all weekend and although she is sore,
she is proud of herself and that she can play 6 games!

We have another tournament in 2 weeks
on Halloween Weekend,
we are crossing our fingers the weather
is beautiful again!

Cooling

October 10, 2018

Goodness it's been hot all season so far.
We are FINALLY getting a cool front in!
Hallelujah!!

Seriously, all month and last month we have had nothing but rain.
We live in Texas, where we are supposed to be sunny and warm,
lately it's been rainy and muggy every.single.day.

Our girls have missed so many softball games and practice,
we've lost count.
We finally are getting a tournament in this weekend,
and praying the weather holds out for us!

We can barely get Belle outside to practice pitching,
but anytime it dries out long enough to throw a few balls,
she is out there practicing!

We had a beautiful night yesterday,
after the storms cleared, it was sunny and the sunset was amazing!

We made sure and got her out to practice,
she honestly misses not playing so she jumps at the chance.
I'm also excited to start making my soups and winter dinners soon!
Seriously, if you haven't go to my recipes and try a few out!

Both are absolutely amazing!
I will be making both of these either Sunday night or sometime next week.

Lastly, I can't tell you how excited our household was this past weekend.
WE BEAT OU!!!! HOOK 'EM!!!

{via}

Eric went absolutely insane over them winning!
It's been a long time, but our Horns are back to the team
we always knew they would be!

Texas Forever!

Autumn

September 25, 2018

{via}
And just like that, Summer is gone and Fall is here.
Honestly, I know my name is Summer and that should be my favorite season
and it pretty much is,
but Autumn holds a little piece of my heart.

I got married in the Fall,
and honestly, I think it's just such a romantic season.
Fall leaves, the smell of fireplaces,
boots, scarfs, hats...
they are all my favorite.

Once Texas gets to Fall, we will let you know.
Today's high is 91!
We did have a little Fall weather this weekend
with the highs in the mid-70's.

I look forward to all the is to come.
Halloween, and making Jack-o-Lanterns
with my family.
Decorating our house, and watching kids eye light up when they see it.
It's so magical and mysterious.

Perfect for me.

We Did It!

September 24, 2018

We did it!
We actually got to play a softball game!
Actually 2 softball games! It's a miracle!

This is how sad it is,
she had a game Thursday... cancelled.
Had practice Friday, cut short due to lightning.
Game Saturday morning... cancelled due to rain.

Her coach sent an email out Saturday evening asking who could play Sunday.
Literally every parent on the team said YES!!

These girls played back to back games
AND WON BOTH GAMES!

Belle did amazing!
She was first up to bat on the very fist pitch,
she got a HOME RUN!!!

She also pitched both games, 129 pitches and had
48% strikes with 7 strike outs.
She looked awesome as well as her whole team.
These girls can play!

I say it every season,
and I am honest every time.
But this season is something different.
Every girl can hit, field, run, etc.
They really look like a select team,
and I can't wait for the rest of the season!

Happy Monday!

14 Years

September 18, 2018

14 years ago today I married the love of my life.
Eric & I met 19 years ago freshman year of college.
From the moment we met we were inseparable.
We did everything together,
and the funny thing is, we still do!

We don't have much time on weeknights anymore with softball and work,
but weekends we make it a priority for the 3 of us to spend as much time together as possible.
We really have been through everything together,
and I can't imagine not having him by my side.

Here's to 14 years together,
and many many more to come!

Happy Anniversary Love!

Are You Excited?!

September 17, 2018

Are you as excited as I am about the new Mary Poppins movie coming out?!
Bella and I used to watch that original movie over and over again.
I seriously cannot wait to take her to see it!

Comes out December 19th! And trust me we will be first in line for it!
Here's the full trailer to watch as well!
Enjoy!!

Firsts

September 14, 2018

This year has brought many firsts for Belle and our family.
We now have a pre-teen,
which means tons of firsts, especially for her.

Yesterday was her first Cotillion Class.
In case, you are not sure what that is, it's definitely a Southern tradition.
Boys and Girls from middle through high school
take classes on how to properly dance,
eat, sit, manners, etc.
They all have to dress very nice as well.
The girls in dresses, the boys in button down shirts and slacks.
At the end they have a formal dance,
which for us will be in February.

Bella before her class last night!

Her first time to really wear makeup and she let me do her hair!
Never happens...

She also goes to her first middle school dance tonight!
To say she is nervous, is an understatement.
She couldn't even eat breakfast this morning,
it was adorable.

It's really a growing stage for Bella and us!
We are getting used to dresses, girly things,
and not always wanting to spend time with her parents.
The last part hurts me a little, not gonna lie.

But even with all this growing up she is doing,
she still hugs us tight,
& tells us she loves us constantly.

She is still that sporty girl
who loves softball,
her friends,
and her teammates
more than you can imagine.

And she is still my Sweet Little Bella Belle.

6 months

September 12, 2018

How has 6 months gone by since I last blogged?!
Because life happened.

Our lives have been nothing short of insane all summer & it hasn't gotten better since school started.
Did I mention Bella is in MIDDLE SCHOOL?!
How in the heck do I have a middle schooler?!

She has her 1st school dance Friday & she starts Cotillion tomorrow! I seriously don't know where the time has gone.

Little catching up. Over the summer Bella played on her softball All Star Team. They did great, but man were we excited to have a break once it was over.
6 days a week is tough on her and her parents!

We took a few vacations, our annual to South Padre,
then last month we went on a family cruise to the Caribbean.
It was AMAZING!

We swam with dolphins in Cozumel,
spent the day at Margaritaville in Grand Cayman,
and spent the day lounging on a private beach in Jamaica.
Seriously, one of our best vacations ever.

We are now back in school and softball mode again.
She has an amazing team that will do great this season!
She is pitching and so excited to be back at it!
Once the rains die down, we will have games and I will post pictures galore on here!

I will end with this,
no matter how old Bella is getting, she is still our little girl!

Weekend Wrap Up

March 6, 2018

This weekend was crazy hectic and so much fun!
Bella's basketball team played in an end of the season tournament,
and WON 1ST PLACE!!

These girls went undefeated all season!
They played their hearts out and we're all so proud of them!
Way to go Flash!!

We went from basketball to softball Saturday!

Bella got to pitch in her 1st game with the Tidal Waves.
They played hard and came up a little short,
but plenty of time left in the season to get better
and work harder.

Sunday was one of the most beautiful days in our family,
Bella made the amazing choice to get baptized in our church,

Her 2 best friends stood up with me to watch her,
and celebrated this special day with her.
(Thank you to their moms for bringing them and celebrating as well!)
Thank you to my sister & brother in law for coming to celebrate
and being there for her,
she was overwhelmed with love and joy,
and so were we!

Few more days and the it's Spring Break!
Happy Tuesday!
