October 29, 2018

I have never done this before on my blog,
but today I am going to step up on my soapbox for a moment.
I'm not one to complain or get upset too often here,
but today I am.

This past weekend our girls has a REC softball tournament in town.
They played tough and beat some really good teams,
but the game we played Sunday morning was torture.
These girl SCREAMED at my daughter while she pitched,
trying to throw her off.
They made fun of our girl's walk up songs,
literally just tore our team apart.
Our girls have NEVER acted this way towards any team.

Trust me, I get that it's a competitive sport,
but to blatantly act like that to 11 & 12 year old girls
is downright pitiful.
The umps did nothing about it,
but when our girls even tried to start a chant,
they sure halted us calling it unsportsmanlike!
My daughter,
God Bless her, was in tears!!
She literally was a bundle of nerves.
She felt like she was going to get sick,
she was so upset.

I am sorry,
but if you have to act like that to win a game,
you don't deserve to be playing
this amazing sport!

Softball teaches girls to become family,
that each teammate of theirs is their sister.
That they treat EVERYONE with respect.
And above all,
to become a better person inside and out.
I pray for the team we played,
that one day they realize how horrible
they treat opposing teams,
and learn to be better players.

And now I am stepping off my soapbox.

Oh What a Weekend!

October 22, 2018

First off, we had an actual day of SUNLIGHT!
Seriously, on Sunday it was beautiful and in the mid 60's!
And our girls got to play a game!
We went out to Lake Travis to play,
and on our way I took a few pictures of the dam and flooding...

This is the first time in over 20 years of living in Austin,
I got to see the dam actually open!

We ended up winning the game,
and the girls did amazing like always!

On the way home, I took the view from the river...

Never seen it so high before.
It's amazing to look at!

Other than the game,
we did go watch Goosebumps 2 which was adorable.
We also had some of her friends meet
Saturday afternoon at a new bounce place.
They all had fun and were exhausted afterwards.
Score one for the parents!

Overall a great and beautiful weekend.
Now onto next weekend
and another tournament!

Letter to My Pitcher... My Daughter

October 19, 2018

I saw this Open Letter today online,
and thought,
I totally need to do this for my daughter,
in my own words.

To my Daughter & Favorite Pitcher:

First and most importantly,
I love you with my whole heart,
whether you pitch or not,
have a great game or not,
I am here,
I am proud of you,
and above all
I love you.

I know you try your hardest to be a great pitcher,
working nightly on your movements,
getting faster,
and you literally put your
sweat and tears into this game.

I know that it frustrates you
when you see girls trying to pitch
thinking it looks easy,
what they don't know is
that you pitch every single day.
When they get a day off,
you are on the side of the house,
closest field,
even a parking lot,
pitching 75-100 balls.

But know that they try because of you.
You and your teammates that pitch,
make it look easy.
You make it look like anyone can do it,
but you know that it's not true.

And when you have a bad game,
I know you look over at me,
and I am there to reassure you,
that you are doing great and to keep going.
I along with you have had to learn
to remain calm and positive,
and just have fun.

My favorite thing in this world
is watching you play.
And I promise to always be there,
cheering you on silently
while you are on that mound.
I promise to smile and give a thumbs up
when you throw a ball.

And when you are done for the day,
I promise to give you a huge hug,
tell you how amazing you played,
and get you ice cream on the way home.

Because one day,
I know these games will be in the past.
You will go home with your friends,
not me and your Dad.
You will be more into boys and makeup
than softball,
and although I hope it never comes,
you will be done with pitching.

Until then,
I will be the one playing your walkup music,
cheering every strike,
every hit you make,
knowing how hard you have worked
to be where you are.

Yep It Did

October 15, 2018

I mentioned on Friday that we were supposed to get a cold front this weekend,
and this morning we sure did!
Yesterday's high was 94, today we are in the 40's and dropping!

Moving on...

This weekend we spent the whole time at the ball fields.
Belle's team was in a tournament,
and ended up getting 4th place!
Those girls played their hearts out,
and showed teams who they really are.

Belle pitched all weekend and although she is sore,
she is proud of herself and that she can play 6 games!

We have another tournament in 2 weeks
on Halloween Weekend,
we are crossing our fingers the weather
is beautiful again!

October 10, 2018

Goodness it's been hot all season so far.
We are FINALLY getting a cool front in!

Seriously, all month and last month we have had nothing but rain.
We live in Texas, where we are supposed to be sunny and warm,
lately it's been rainy and muggy every.single.day.

Our girls have missed so many softball games and practice,
we've lost count.
We finally are getting a tournament in this weekend,
and praying the weather holds out for us!

We can barely get Belle outside to practice pitching,
but anytime it dries out long enough to throw a few balls,
she is out there practicing!

We had a beautiful night yesterday,
after the storms cleared, it was sunny and the sunset was amazing!

We made sure and got her out to practice,
she honestly misses not playing so she jumps at the chance.
I'm also excited to start making my soups and winter dinners soon!
Seriously, if you haven't go to my recipes and try a few out!

Both are absolutely amazing!
I will be making both of these either Sunday night or sometime next week.

Lastly, I can't tell you how excited our household was this past weekend.

Eric went absolutely insane over them winning!
It's been a long time, but our Horns are back to the team
we always knew they would be!

Texas Forever!
